I have been trying to change up my address ..with out any luck so far. I have done this many times before. i have a netis usb wireless network card now. im
wondering could this be the culprit

The things that obtains you IP address is the modem, and the bit of kit that stores the MAC address is the router. The wireless network card will not have an effect. What have you done in the past to obtain a new IP address?
