Re: multiple dba to the same owner
I've never heard of this happening. The problem with DBA's will come up when PayPal/Amazon ask for your SSN or EIN.
If your business is a DBA, then the IRS records will have your real name, rather than the business name associated with the EIN.
So, you are JOHN SMITH d/b/a GOOFY INDUSTRIES and your EIN is 12-3456789
When they send the information to the IRS for confirmation:
12-3456789 GOOFY INDUSTRIES will equal NO MATCH
12-3456789 JOHN SMITH will equal MATCH
Of course, if you are keeping sales low to the point where they will not request your tax ID, then it will not matter. BUT: requests seem to be coming earlier now. They are NOT waiting until you get close to the $20k/200 sales mark - an algorithm is determining the likelihood of your account reaching those numbers and it is not unusual for someone to have $5,000 in total sales when they ask for it. It all depends on how much you are selling and the time-frame it is sold in.
