Bank Account Opening Formula for Success/Failure?
 

Like the other people out there I am always looking for free checking accounts online ever since ING blewup.

It has been mentioned here that WAMU is the best -- but in my experience you can only open 10 total checking/savings accounts ONLINE.

Obviously there is HSBC...but recently they limited my ability to open accounts because I was opening too many.

So my question is this: for the people who open a LOT of accounts, is the best solution to open the first one IN PERSON INSIDE A BRANCH?

If anyone out there has a ton of accounts, do they suggest opening the first one INSIDE the BRANCH, in person?

And if so, what are some other banks?

bank of america. i have under 10 with. can open more after the first online.

i closed a couple in person. the lady was like, did you open these online or something? and i toldher the situation and she didnt seem to mind really.

best thing is the reason i specifically signed up with bankofamerica, was all their credit cards have the shopsafe feature. virtual credit card numbers on all their credit cards. so like it does the same thing those simon gift card things the people here buy , do. but you just do it from the banking website.

Wells Fargo works but Band Of America is the best.

Stay way away from ING.

I have opened up a ING account under my g/f's info and it works flawless only downfall is you got to use your real name on paypal but if you have a common name then thats not a problem at all :) ING is the best for muiltple accounts cause you can open and close them as you need unlike BOA u got to goto the bank to close them out after u used them that sucks when u got to drive 60 miles to get there.

Have you tried calling their 1-800 number?
You can close them on the phone.

Hey. How exactly does the vcc from BOA work? I have a few checking accounts there, and would love to save myself the hassle of getting more simon cards next time I look to verify an account.

well. if you get a credit card, vcc is generated when you log in online check your account balance. vcc can be little as 1 dollar, i think, as short acting as, a 2 month away expiration on the card.
it still has your real, name, but i checked against here and that has nothing to do with verification on pp. only address/ zip, which like most normal bank accounts, you can change online withoth ever talking to someone, if you give it a day or to set.

Diversify.

Go in banks and open a savings and checking account. Most banks have online access where you can create accounts on-the-fly.

Its really not hard. If you took a days time opening accounts in-bank, you could safely have 60+ accounts to use.

I use Wamu and have under 10 accounts, no problems.

Just go to a local WAMU and simply tell them to open a new savings account. Get to know a particular banker and just go to him/her for opening/closing accounts.

is there anyway of getting an account with ⊗⊗⊗⊗ details at all i know its pretty illegal but would be great wouldnt it

Which account are better checking or savings and what ones are eaiser to close without all the hassels of to why you want to close it from the bank. I only have 3 bank accouts just not sure if it looks werid to have to many checking accounts.

No, you dont have to drive to BOA to close an account. You can close them via mail, you just have to send an account closure form to their account closure dept. I am pretty sure you can close any bank account via mail. I'm not sure about phone, usually they need a signature.

You can even close BOA accounts online. No signature needed. :)

^^^Not wise to shut them online. Yeah, it is an easy way but if you do it face to face, you can make sure you are covered if there are O/S transactions. Also, you can get that nice piece of paper in your hand from the staff member to say account closed.

I hava several BOA accounts prior to setting up a stealth account. Here is my question...when I set up a stealth account, I will use a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and a variation of my address. Now with an existing checking account, do I request to change the account or mailing address of the account to match the stealth account? How does that work with BOA? Can you change the address online?

Also, are you able to open new BOA accounts online? For some reason, I'm getting stuck on what address to use? I've read that I can use a variation of my current address and also set up a UPS or Box address. Now if I open up multiple bank accounts, do I have to set up a UPS address for each one? Do they require any proof of address in order to open accounts?

For those that have multiple BOA or any other bank accounts, how are you being creative with the address?

Also, how are you using the shopsafe feature of your BOA credit card? How about the address for the main cc? What address do you use?

I don't see there is a need to make different addresses in your bank accounts.

Freedom, Paypal cannot see the name or address on the bank account. So you don't need to change any info on the bank accounts.

Yes you can open BOA accounts online. You do not need a new address for each one, the same address will work fine. :typing:

I guess what I'm trying to do is use the visa debit card that comes with the checking accounts that are opened and use them with Paypal and Ebay. I was thinking that the address with the debit card must match to the stealth account address that was set up?

the checking account debit card's address can not be different than your physical address on-file with bank.
