Recommendations for a good merchant account

This will be used for a subscription based site not ebay. I tried First Data and thier support is really slow, though they do answer and are American. I may try Merchant Plus next, but First Data said not to try to open multiple merchant accounts cause it looks like fraud. I think they may just be using a FUD tactic. Thanks.
