Ebay not approving merchant accounts

It looks like EBay is flat out denying new eBay members to use a merchant account. Within four or five hours of faxing the account statements, they are replying with messages as to them not being able to verify the account and specifically saying "to sell on Ebay, you must use PayPal." Anti-trust laws aside, I would like some ideas.

I have a merchant account (Merchantinc.com) and their shopping cart (snscart.com). The good thing is this shopping cart automatically emails my buyers upon auction checkout. (It uses an eBay token like Auctiva). This is great in that all my buyers automatically get an email with Pay Now buttons directly to my merchant account.

The problem is that I cannot list a merchant account in my listings since eBay is turning them all down now. So, my solution is the following -

1. Within my listing, only select money order and cashiers check as payment methods accepted.

2. At the bottom of each listing, write that I accept credit cards (MC/Visa) and tell them that they will receive an invoice at checkout.

Will this work?

If not, please provide some ideas!!!!

Thanks,

Todd

yes, it works, and i have been doing it this way with merchantince for about 3 months now. i have the credit card link in my auctiva checkout.

i thought eBay makes all new sellers accept either Paypal or Merchant accounts?

twdell 04-02-2008 11:35 AM

i sell adult material, so i'm free from the paypal requirement. i set up this account about 3 months ago, and i wasn't required to submit a merchant account.

TMiles 04-03-2008 08:16 AM

Ebaykilla...good point. I will check. Right now, on one account I have Paypal and I will test various scenarios.

Jonas 04-04-2008 02:44 AM

TMiles2564, ebay will force you to accept gaypal and then people will always try to send a gaypal payment to you.

twdell that's a good idea. Maybe we could test in the adult category and see if paypal is not forced there.

twdell 04-04-2008 08:54 AM

paypal can't be forced there. the idiots don't allow payments for adult material to be made. it's a real pain for the buyers who are stuck on paypal.

Jonas 04-05-2008 06:41 AM

twdell, do you still need a merchant account if you don't offer gaypal then?

loveandhate 04-05-2008 08:05 AM

seems like they are reading this website everyday.

twdell 04-05-2008 09:48 AM

no a merchant account wasn't a requirment when i set up my new accounts, but it's not like ebay knew i was going to be selling adult stuff either though. i do have a merchant account, but before i was suspended all i accepted was money orders and paypal on the side.

I faxed a merchant statement into ebay, and a week later got this emailed to me:

Hello XXXXX,

Thank you for submitting your merchant processing statement to eBay.

I have completed our review, but was unable to confirm the statement
provided. To list items on eBay, you will need to select PayPal as the
payment method accepted.

More information about Selecting Payment Methods can be found at the
following link:

Sincerely,
XXXXXXXX

Does mechantinc only for US user?

And if listing with SNScart, would ebay log SNScart IP or user pc IP?

Just for my information, which paypal office is sending these rejects?

ebaykilla 02-11-2009 12:10 AM

paypal office? it is the merchant account monkies at ebay ...wally, trevin, and tatsu. they are now quick to reject your merchant account statement or ask for 2 or 3 different month's and then finally say no..."use paypal".

GreenBean 02-11-2009 12:46 AM

Yeah, yeah. Are tevin & tatsu in the same place as wally. Get what I mean.:p

ebaykilla 02-11-2009 07:52 PM
