Default Is the purge over?

There was a purge around April/May with new accounts receiving initial payments of above $50. Is it over or getting worse? What has your experience been with new accounts? I had one limited after the first payment of $70 back in the Spring, even though it was created several months earlier. Reading about other people's experiences, it seemed to be more of a matter of what's the value of the first incoming transfers than the age of the accounts. I don't see a lot of these instant limitation posts anymore, which makes me believe things may have calmed down.

Never had the experiences you are talking about.

I would guess it is more to do with what you are selling and how than a dollar amount.

Paypal is in business to make money. They want every new account they can get and they want large dollars to be flowing. What they don't want is risk and if you are having these issues, you have caused paypal to consider YOU risky.

I don't have any reason to believe anything has changed since all of the limitations you're referring to were most likely automated. Paypal security is here to stay and is only getting better. Paypal's systems are built to detect potentially fraudulent activity and since that's a vital feature for their industry I don't believe they'll ever stop closing accounts they suspect of fraud.

It has always been recommended to start out with smaller payments and slowly build up to larger payments. Put yourself in their shoes and look at your transactions from a risk perspective. It will always look bad for a brand new seller to receive a $50 payment as their first transaction.

Someone reported such a 'purge' recently as well.
I myself have not seen any such thing back then or recently.

Is there a purge? I haven't felt anything lately... If you are getting a purge... you're doing it all wrong..

Generally only start with very small payments on new accounts anyway, so I was immune from the purge. A friend told me he experienced the same after first payment many times

I notice at least once a year several accounts go down within days or weeks of each other. I either have back ups that I rotate in or I just make a few more accounts and only sell one thing a week on the new accounts. Works for me!
