Default Reporting to the BBB made paypal release my funds early

After getting tons of accounts limited.. I started an ebay/paypal account in my mom's name.

I was using it about a week. Until the dreaded Monday came and they limited my account because I tried to withdraw money to my bank account. Of course that set off a flag and they called me. I didn't answer and *BAM* ~Limited Access~ so feeling confident I sent in everything they needed. In the mean time I signed up for Paymate also in my mom's name and linked it too my ebay account. And *BAM* my ebay account get's suspended too and they also need more information. Fine whatever sent in more information. Saturday rolls around and I get the email "We decided to end our business relationship." I did everything right and STILL they closed my account. So Saturday night I decided to write to the BBB. Yesterday I get an email stating that they sent my complaint to paypal. And this morning I get an email starting that my funds are now eligible for withdrawal.

Interesting...maybe we can get some other people to try this and see if it works for others as well. Thanks for the post!

I also called them today asking for the specific reason why they closed my account. It was because I decided to refund the buyers versus shipping my items out under a limited account. I asked her if they would reconsider because it isn't fair that I can't use ebay to buy or sell because I decided to not let them keep my money and risk losing both items and money and she said she was reopen the case and it would be 24 hours before they could come up with a decision. HOPEFULLY they will because I... well my MOM didn't do anything wrong to begin with.

Great news. Even if you dont get your moms account back. Im going to do the BBB thing too the next time they limit one of my accounts. They truly are a bunch of greedy pigs , that just dont give a **** about anything but themselves. It must be that the BBB is getting too many complaints about them?? Score one for the little guy.

That is good news, but I don't think will work for people who have stealth accounts. I think you need to give BBB your correct contact info =(

yes, but maybe not, I mean BBB may not write to you they may just call. If stealth is in fiction address, their letter would be returned to sender, by then you could have skidded paypals underpants -threats work (sometimes)

I don't see why it would matter whether if your information was under your stealth or not. In the letter paypal sent me they gave me their information like an email address to an excutive and also a 402 number to the excutives desk. I might call them or not havent decided. Just make sure u use a email from your paypal account because they will check it out.

I haven't had much luck using the BBB. I tried twice and they got even more aggressive. The funny part is that the BBB closed the dispute as if Paypal had resolved it when nothing was resolved for me. I guess that is the wonderful thing about being on the board of directors for the BBB.
