Getting A New Number To Pass PP Security Check
 

Basically I ran into an issue with a stealth that wasn't hooked to an accessible phone #. The account is asking for security check text/call on login or to verify identity (yea right.) So I'm wondering if there is a workaround as far as getting a new number that shows as registered to the stealth PP account owner.

Feel free to PM if you have a working solution. Free is great, but I have no problem paying to get this solved. I just want something that is gonna work before I blow $$ on a bunch of different phones that don't. TIA

Thanks for the useless post Empirestate - brilliant and helpful as ever.
OP - this is a common issue and all you can do now is add a new phone and wait it out. No matter what number and service you'll use for this purpose you'll need to wait quite a long time before it is accepted by PayPal for security checks - roughly 3-4 months. Until then youll keepgetting the error message stating the numbrr is not registered in your name (a generic BS excuse of theirs).

Subscribed to see if someone comes up with a workable solution. I ran into similar problem recently in which case the SIM card has been lost. I use the account from a different country where paypal is not fully operational. The account is mine, created 14 years ago when I was living in that country it was registered. I think paypal has tightened it's policy recently we often fall into problem. It was not so problematic even last year.

Add a number and wait a very long while. Like sloker said, a few months or more.

If you log in several times daily, browse around, click whatever they will allow you to, after a while(week-month) you can sometimes get past the call request. Sometimes... that is a lot of work, so unless you have a hefty amount of money you need to withdraw, the waiting game is best.

This check is at the login, so I can't get in and do all that stuff unfortunately. I didn't make the account or I would have kept control of the # for the account, thanks anyways ES. It was aged and pre-gvoice so seller doesn't have control of the # either.

Sounds like your best bet at this point is to either call paypal or give up on the account altogether and move on. Doesnt sound like theres much else you can do about it unfortunately...

Yea I tried the account again yesterday and no security check, whereas I ran into it on no less than 5 occasions before. So weird. Needless to say I changed the number to something I have control over going forward.

I run into this problem all the time. My solution has been to switch browsers.

If it happens in Chrome, I log in on Safari. It works for me every time.

I can verify this will work. At least once. It worked one time for me and that was the end of it.
