Default Account terminated-180 days hold - AUP

Hi...A while back i got this email for my PP account

""We're initiating closure of your PayPal account

After a review of your account activity, we've determined that you're in violation of PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy. Specifically, the sale of items that infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, right of publicity or privacy, or any other proprietary right under the laws of any jurisdiction. As a result, your account has been permanently limited and you won't be able to conduct any further business using PayPal. This is permitted under the PayPal User Agreement sections Restricted Activities and Actions We May Take. You must remove all references to PayPal from your website(s) and/or auction(s), including removing PayPal as a payment option, the PayPal logo, and the PayPal shopping cart. You'll no longer be able to use PayPal.

What happens to your account balance?

If you have funds in your PayPal balance, we'll hold it for up to 180 days. We'll do a periodic review of your account for funds release. A gradual approach to account closure allows us to part ways, while considering any liabilities like settling cases from your buyers, responding to chargebacks and helping you avoid financial losses.

As we initiate the closure, we must oversee the appropriate movement of funds in your account. If your account balance is below zero, you'll have to settle the amount owed on your account to avoid further action.

How will the process work?

Our first review will calculate our exposure and can result in any of the 3 different outcomes mentioned. After each review, excess funds will be released for withdrawal. We’ll communicate the outcome of the reviews to you.

We'll release the entire remaining balance to you for withdrawal. If you choose not to withdraw the funds at that point, we reserve the right to re-coup any funds at the next review; or
We'll release a part of your remaining balance to you. If this is the case, we'll inform you about how much funds can be withdrawn. We'll then conduct another review; or
We won't release any funds to you if we deem our exposure to be greater than or equal to your available balance.

Your account may be reviewed multiple times; for up to 180 days from the date of this email. If there are funds in your account at day 180, it will be made available for withdrawal at that point.

How can you appeal?

If you wish to appeal our decision, you can get in touch with us and let us know. Log in to your PayPal account and click 'Contact' at the bottom of the page. Select 'Managing My Account' as the topic and 'My account is limited' as the sub-topic, then send your message.

If your account shows an amount owing to PayPal, you must add funds to ensure that the balance returns to zero. We reserve the right to recover the amount by legal means.

A copy of our User Agreement can be found by clicking 'Legal Agreements' at the bottom of any PayPal page. Our right to close your PayPal account, and the retention of funds, are covered in our User Agreement under sections 10.2 and 10.3.

Thank you for using PayPal. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. """

Is this a general email or specific to my case? can i actually appeal to either get it back or get the money? Will actually release any amount after 180days? Havent taken any kind of action yet.

regards

Because it says AUP violations, you may come back in 180 days and see that paypal has stolen some or all your funds. If you are lucky, all your funds will still be there. Doubtful you would win an appeal.

before termination i was getting 24hrs withdraw review but searching around on the internet everyone said it was normal and even others were getting up to 72hr. At some point it stopped but after few withdraws review was up again so i thought maybe was my withdraw pattern...until last withdraw failed and terminated account

so better not to try anything and just wait for the 180day to be over?

Although it was digital items can i try to send invoices for tangible items for some cover? or doesnt matter ?

Welcome to the forum - all the best as you master stealth

Doubt you would get reinstated so likely best to wait 180 days and hope funds are released.

You have a bank account on file with pp?

There is a long list of AUP violations on its site,Paypal can keep your money after 180 days.
You sell digital items,is that copyright violations?if so,it could keep your money, you will know after 180 days.
