| | | | | dupedagain | 04-21-2010 04:15 AM | Paypal used my credit score as why kicked to the curb "We regret to advise you that PayPal has determined to close your account.
The following notice explains the reason for closure and the process for
disbursing any remaining balance.
As part of our account review, a consumer credit report was obtained from
the credit reporting agency identified below. The results of the report
contributed to the decision for account closure."
Has anyone out there heard of having your paypal account shut down due to your credit score??
I always joked about how one day your feedback on Ebay will play some sort of role in your ability to buy a house or finance a washing maching...and some mortgage company or bank will tell you.."well Mr? according to your Ebay feedback scores...it shows that buyer PickleNut89 (100% feedback STEROID SELLER) filed a claim that you are a slow shipper..and to us a slow shipper means a slow payer and so you are denied..any concerns?? contact Ebay or try to make resolution with PickleNut89" |

| FandangoKango | 04-22-2010 09:24 PM | they dont' just look at your credit score even though they said they just do, but they look at your credit history too i beleive this 100%. they determined based on that and it's playing a big role everything these days. sucks, but things just keep getting tighter and harder. i hope paypal changes management all of it to new better people, but that might never happen for a while. |
| First Edition | 04-22-2010 09:35 PM | This is not new.
Just like any payment processor, they make this determination based on risk assessment. Yes, if you have bad credit, your account will most likely get kicked. Same way with google checkout, or bluepay for example. The thing is, with a direct merchant account, the credit check is done up front. With paypal, they do when you hit a certain volume.
Stream, you do not have to use a social to do a soft credit check.
Another account will have to be made with a new address, ip address, seperate cookies, flash, and a new bank account and credit card. This is assuming it's a sellers account that will accept payment. The name can actually stay the same.
dupedagain - you will benefit greatly from ebay stealth, also... don't be afraid to use one of the many thousands of ways to accept payment. I always stress people get away from paypal anyway :) They're not the only game in town. |
| dupedagain | 04-23-2010 09:32 PM | i realize that most of you here on this forum have seen or heard these same stories either from personal experience or repeated posts from the community but it is a fresh new kick in my teeth on the paypal ride to hell...sorry, i am just venting...in asking for specifically what i did wrong and could someone tell me the details..i was told the following...are there any documented cases of people going "Postal" on any paypal offices or headquarters?? ok..i am going to buy the book and will view it as my new bible and am done venting..thanks for listening... If you would like to obtain copies of the information we reviewed in
deciding to place a limitation on your account, you will need to obtain
a court order or subpoena. To do so, you may want to consider speaking
with an attorney who should be able to explain the subpoena process to
you. If you choose to subpoena the information, you'll need to submit it
to us using National Registered Agents, Inc.

| First Edition | 04-24-2010 09:17 PM | paypal has done this for years... those that complain the most about it are too clouded by anger to see a solution.
When you sold baseball cards to your buddies did you have them pay via paypal? no... |
| hdman | 06-07-2010 11:56 AM | Being a powerseller many times over in the past, this has also happened to me, but fortunately i already now the ropes, Another thing that happened to me is they held $6000 for 120 days after they "no longer wanted to to business with me" .
Yea they suck. |
| dupedagain | 06-08-2010 04:58 AM | Did paypal release your money ($6000) after the 120 days? Pay pal is holding a little over $2000 of my money, and the 180 days is over this month on June 22nd..I cannot seem to get a straight answer from paypal if on the 22nd will my money be available for me to withdraw..but all the emails i get from them regarding my question seem to sound like they STILL WANT me to resolve some issues they have and then they will release my money..and i thought it was either you resolve these issues OR you will have to wait 180 days for your money. |
| cardfelon | 06-11-2010 11:54 PM | What issues are outstanding? Did they give you a list or something? |
| eryan2369 | 06-12-2010 12:18 AM | Being a former mortgage broker and knowing a thing or two about credit reports and the laws regarding such, don't you have to give express consent for a company such as paypal to run your credit?...or is that "consent" embedded somewhere in their terms of use that you must agree to upon sign up? |
| cardfelon | 06-12-2010 02:29 PM | I am pretty sure when you sign up in the TOS it talks about the credit report |
| chopperstyle | 06-22-2010 12:18 PM | Paypal Closed Account for Bad Credit & DVD Movies This happened to me today. First of all I sell on eBay. I have 100% feeback over 500. I am a Silver Powerseller and I am a top rated seller. I think I brought this on myself trying to go legit.
Heres the scenario:
I have been selling a certain Vero product from China for over 8 months. I started out small and I was up to selling about 18K of this product per month.
I have had 0 negative feedbacks or Paypal claims. The only problem I had was ebay would limit me to selling only so much per week. But that limit disappeared on its on. I never had any problems with withdrawing from PayPal.
Well I have been selling this vero product so long I thought it was time to quit while I was ahead so I went to some auctions and bought some real electronics products. I started listing them and all of a sudden my PayPal account got limited.
Paypal asked for documentation, bank statement, supplier info, business info etc. I called and asked them what information they needed and they said they need supplier info for last five sales. It blew my mind that they only wanted info on the legit electronics and not the china vero products I had been selling for months. Well I sent in all documents.
Today I log in and I get a message that they pulled a credit report and have decided to close my account. WTF. It wasnt suspended but closed.
My questions are:
1. Is there any hope to getting this same PayPal account back open
2. My eBay account is currently unaffected with perfect standing. Can I still use it it sale or is a suspension likely to come soon? If I can continue to use eBay what do I do for Payment?
3. Can I add another PayPal account to my current eBay account? ( I don't think so but I just wanted to ask
Any other advice anyone could offer me in this situation would be appreciated. Also if anyone wants to sale DVDS movies on eBay I have the perfect supplier. I have sold thousands of them without complaints. They are from China but they are just like ones in Walmart. No crazy chinese writing. Just perfect. I have about 1000 to get rid of if I cant sell on ebay anymore. $4 each all brand new releases priced between $16-$23 in stores. I can post pics |
My own 2 cents of answers to your questions from what I have seen:
1. You can contact Paypal and push via customer service, managers, etc. but in all likelihood the account is done.
2. While I have heard of eBay accounts going down in succession, in the mean time you can set up a different payment processor and push that way.
3. You cannot add another Paypal account since both organizations work together, eventually they will shut your other account down.
Best bet is different processor - moneybrokers, paymate, whatever.
Side note: anyone from Canada get this credit report-based Paypal letter? Would be interesting to know... | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:59 PM. | |
