Default Out $460 Should I let it go?

So paypal got REALLY sneaky. I sold a gift card for $460 and it didnt get there in time for the buyer (he neglected to mention he needed it by a certain time for his daughters bday). So I sent him a refund. How heres where it gets sneaky. I have about $500 in my paypal account. I issue the refund. THEN I get his with a limitation. Now they didnt issue the refund out fo the paypal balance but they took it out of my bank account. A fact I didnt learn until today. So of course paypal just throws BS. But my bank is proactive with it and sent me a form to fill out. Now this is the problem. If they investigate they will see payments coming in not in my name. The last thing I want the bank to do is say oh yeah heres your money but dont ever open an account with us again. Or for the bank to turn me over to anyone for fraud. What do you guys think. Do I just let the $460 go and stick it to paypal another way. I thought about telling the buyers to just start filing chargebacks and that i wouldnt fight them haha.

Hey there =)

From my experience with banks, and I have quite a bit, there is a fee involved with each investigation of transactions on your account. So for them to investigate your ENTIRE account out at their own initiative is hardly likely. They love to charge fees on the work that's done so I would not be worried about them going back and looknig at all of your biz.

On the other hand, if you have a lot of chargebacks and weird stuff bouncing on your account, the bank will likely try to wash their hands off of you.

I would go after the $460 - money is money after all.

"I thought about telling the buyers to just start filing chargebacks and that i wouldnt fight them haha." - That could cause you a headache that you would hardly be laughing from after...
