confirm ssn

signed up for a paypal business account got verified bought some items and then they limted my account, now they want invoices and proof of SSN how do i give them proof of SSN? what sucks is i dont remember giving them one to begine with when they verified me. Sorry should explain a bit more, a customer came to my website to make a donation basically paypal said its a payment which is true. and they now want all this proof of stuff,

PayPal asked for your SSN because you BOUGHT some items???

Did you SELL anything on this account? That is typically when they start demanding all sorts of documentation.

And them asking for proof of SSN does not mean that you ever gave it to them. I was asked for this before and I had never given them anything. But they asked after my sales passed $2k in one month (I was much dumber back then!)

You have to be pre-approved to accept donations through PayPal. Could that be it? And, yes, the IP could have set off a red flag.

ok so how do i give them proof of ssn then? the invoices and deleivery can easily be resolved.

Also if my customer used the donation button can they ask for a refund as i tried to go in and give them one and there was no refund link or button to send the funds back too.

Is this your real account? If so, call up PayPal (be nice) and see what's going on.

I have never had to issue a refund for a donation, so I don't know how that works. I've only issued refunds on 2 eBay items - they do have a refund button for that when you look up your account order detail - but I don't know if it is the same for donations.

As to proof of SSN, can you fax them a copy of your social security card? If this is a stealth account that is a dicey area. SSN's can be verified and faking one is illegal. If this is the case you may just want to create a new account and move on.

I don't think it is wise to have your customer initiate the refund process. That will set off red flags for sure. You might want to look in their help section for donations for this.

And I highly recommend the eBay Stealth Book. No, I do not make a single dime if you buy it, but it is well worth the $37. It gives very specific information on both creating a stealth account, avoiding problems, and - more importantly - KEEPING the stealth account.
