New paypal account but no 21 day hold! What? Releasing all funds

Ok everyone riddle me this? I opened up a new paypal/ebay account my details were all ⊗⊗⊗⊗, i listed 4 items for sale yesterday all under $50, logged into paypal this morning and there is no hold on my funds! What?! Everything i have read on this forum has told me 21 day hold for newbie or that you would need at least x amount of fb.

I don't have any bank details on there and I am paypal unconfirmed, yet there not putting any holds on funds. i have bought a couple of things with the money i have in there so i know there is no hold. So question is, did paypal 21 day hold policy recently change or did i just get luck?

rcdrivertim 09-29-2010 11:53 AM

You got lucky because I got my big fat 21 day hold immediately...

rsot 09-29-2010 12:00 PM

Yes you are lucky - use the funds for shipping - just be careful on withdrawing...

imjustme 09-29-2010 12:12 PM

On some accounts I get it, on others I don't. It's like lottery.

FandangoKango 09-29-2010 01:54 PM

Some get the hold and some do. It's just luck and paypal systems. Don't worry they haven't changed policy they just want to do it like that.

21 day holds are not a guarantee, that has been established in past discussions

Also, providing excellent service and fast shipping removes the hold also.... every time without fail :)

Me too. I have one account that with 1 seller feedback I only got 3 holds on over a dozen sales. Withdraws all fine too

They will pop up from time to time. 1st hold was around the 8th sale. So go figure.

Not having them now is no guarantee they wont all of a sudden be common too. So keep that in mind. No free rides with PayPal.....

Dont worry, you will get the dreaded red box in the top of your paypal account soon. None of my new paypal accounts get holds at first (of course I usually age them for 3 months before using), but after I sell about 10 items, I get an automated email from paypal and everything gets held.

Yes, sir. Thats about right. Got a soft limit on about the 13th or 14th sale. Passed it and had one hold since. I can live with some holds.

what you do you mean by "soft limit" and how do you pass it? I've only gotten what I stated above.

Just invoices and tracking, nothing else.

I assumed by red bar you meant a limit.

First Edition 09-29-2010 03:07 PM

red bar= account balance in the negative, or red font to denote limitation

IMO.... could be wrong :)

yes that is true, but they also put a red bar with paypals new hold policy on the top of your paypal page. Others here know what I am referring too, it has been discussed a few times before.

pod 09-29-2010 03:15 PM

Gotcha. I was thinking limitation. I have [so far] not been blessed with the "always on" holds [yet]

Canadian accounts have many perks.....

So Canadian accounts still get no holds?

First Edition 09-29-2010 03:20 PM

No... they do... it's just different... best discussed via pm

luna 09-29-2010 05:31 PM

we get the holds too

on every account that I had so far the 21 day hold was either immediately, or after 5 sales, or not at all, or over 50.00 and not for under 50.00 and then for 8.00. they put the holds on just as they go or want. for us in Canada too belive me.:ballchain:

underneaththebus 09-29-2010 05:48 PM

I've have 6 small items up bin, sold 2 items already shipped quick and got great Fb. Btw, I also thought they don't let you do Bin requiring immediate payment unless you had at least 10 Fb? Correct or incorrect? I've spent so much time reading these forums I feel like my eyes are about to fall out! Will keep you guys posted ;-)
