refund issued to a not longer active card

HI There,

I issued a refund with paypal to a customer, and now she sent me a message telling me the debit card where it was issued is not active anymore.

Does anyone know what happen in this case ?

should still appear on her bank account, but if not it will get returned to sender (you)

you will see by the transaction in a few days if it bounces back.

Balance will stay in PP account if it can't be returned to the debit card. Your part in the transaction seems done TOOKNAPA

Any refunds made to paypal will stay in paypal regardless.

it's up to the buyer's responsibility to transfer it back to their bank account.

So tell her to log into her paypal.

Refund can be sent to PayPal account, but also to card, I think it depends if the buyer has a PayPal account or not

hmm... am I right in saying the customer paid via PayPal (and used their card as a funding source), and you have refunded the client via PayPal, and PayPal has returned funds to their debit card which is no longer active?

If so, I presume since its a debit card, there a bank account attached to the card, so tell the client to call their bank and reallocate the funds to their new debit card.

Usually when a bank (at least here in the UK) receives a refund, for a card no longer active, they store it in an isolated account for it to be claimed by the account holder, before returning it to the sender if unclaimed.
