I'm still trying to figure out these holds. Right now I sell cheap items for under $10 and all the payments are instant payments. If I sell higher priced items in the same category, say $50 items, will these payments be held?
Account Metrics are:
* 72 Transcations
* $1,928 in sales
* Seller Level: Above Standard
* Account is just over about a year old

I've read online about paypal holds, and am personally most of my paypal accounts hold the money for 21 days. I think paypal takes this serious around the world.

Why are you still getting 21 day hold? Has it not been 90 days since 1st sale?

It's not always just to do with amount you sell, and date from first sale.
More recently it's become a lot more about consistency as well. So if there is a spike in the amount your selling, there's going to be holds.
This was introduced by PayPal to prevent people circumventing their 21 day hold rules.
I should also add, the holds will only (usually) be placed on the higher value items ($50), your $10 sales would still come through instantly.

With your sale history, as long as accts in good standing, there should be not anything suspicious for them to "hold funds". But with PayPal you never know lol

some of my accounts have been off from the 21 day hold limit. but some times i still get hold for a transaction occasionally. some times 2 different customers buy from me the same product for the same price on the same day. one is instant payment. no holds. but the other is holding.

I had an account that actually has holds randomly for a month... it's a 4 year old account.
It's really annoying, specially the account is one of my best ones.

No holds at the moment but I'm selling low priced items. I'm about to start selling $50-$200 items soon and I'm hoping all these will be instant payments as well.

If its an account you've built up history on, it won't have any issues. In fact, selling a few high value items now and then can help the account become stronger (not high risk items though).
As I said before, if there happens to be any hold on the payment, usually it will just be that particular transaction, i.e. your other $10 sales will come through as normal.
Let us know how it pans out for you. Good Luck! |

So right now as I study my items, it seems like there's a $25 cutoff for holds. Every payment under $25 is instant and everything over $25 is put on hold.

Yes definitely, I sell items in the higher price range and I would say around 50/50 of the payments I receive are held by paypal. I wish I received all instant payments like you lol

I had a new account that held randomly but some payment were instant, the account was only 2 weeks old, and it would have cleared funds from some 100$+ sales right away, weirdest thing ive ever seen with paypal. and also i ran $4500 on it in 30 days and never got limited, but im afraid to withdrawl... im waiting until 30 days after last sale
