PayPal wanting to send text to phone when buying
 

Someone said to wait 4 days after the request then it'll go away, any more details? Like don't login for 4 days straight? If I put a bank acct after this text request will it just let me withdraw without all this hassle? What I mean is after I get this text request and then I put in a bank account, I'm not gonna get another text request when I try to withdraw am I? Thanks.

That's anyone's guess.
When they give you this sort of verification it usually means paypal doesnt have a lot of trust in the account - mostly happens with newer accounts (which I assume this is as well).
How old is the account? what sort of activity has it seen? And what exactly are you trying to do - add a bank account? or send a payment? cause you mention both.

Yup it's a new acct. tried to send payment, then it asked for text verification. So I'm thinking screw jt, just add a bank acct, just want to make sure it doesn't ask for that damn text again. Pp has been coming down hard recently, and I mean hard.

This is not paypal coming down hard - this is standard for them.
And adding a bank account wont change a thing. They know what VBAs are and theres no way for you prove anything just by adding a bank account.
Whats the problem with actually going through the text message verification?
The best 'fix' for this situation is just time and history for the account. Not much else you can do about it. I kep telling anyone who would listen - patience is key when doing stealth.

But it's not a vba. And haven't u been keeping up to date about receiving text? It doesn't work, it doesn't go thru.

Another game paypal is playing to keep everybody's money longer. Adding a bank (real or VBA) won't help with this issue, unless you gave up on spending the money and want to just transfer it

I actually want to just transfer on some accounts, but I'm willing to wait it out on some other accounts. I've stopped selling altogether on the accounts that keep asking for this stupid text verification, just to let it age a bit without new money coming in, while I'm creating new accounts.

The thing is, with the new accounts, if I just add a bank fairly soon, will it still give me this stupid text verification? No attempts of buying anything at all, just withdraw a little bit at a time, say 30-40 dollars every other day or so, with 300-400 dollars in there. thx.

You can transfer to bank account, not transfer to another account

In my experience, you cant transfer to another PP because verification but still can transfer to the bank account

I'm super new at this and have zero business attempting to offer anybody help or advice.....but I just did something by accident yesterday that might solve your problem.

I was logged in to my gmail account, and I went to google voice to get a free phone number.....Then I went to my pp account and edited my info to this new number. They sent the text and I got an e-mail (gmail account) with the digits they texted to that number....I typed those in at pp and they said my phone was verified.

I'm sure all the pros here know about it, but I just stumbled onto it by accident.

^^^ did the name on your gmail account match with your paypal account exactly? Sometimes with my gmail account, it's a misspelled name. Not sure if this is the way to go from now on. Thanks.

And then you will need a real phone number to get the call

PP wont let you use that GG voice to receive message when check out on ebay, but if you know how to use GG voice to receive the call then it's no big deal

Hello.

I create new PP account - it´s two and half mounth old, last week I start selling on Ebay. I received this week 2 transactions - no more like 200€ together.
If I want log in to my account - paypal want quick security check from me - pp want they want to send me a verification text message to my phone - but thi is not possible - becasue I used my old phone number - that number is inactive now.

That´s mean - I can´t finsh quick check and that´s mean I can´t log in to my account.

Can somebody help me: How I can change or give to pp my new phone number and then finish quick check?
Or how I can contact paypal - because I have to tell him - that I have a new number.

Big thank you for everyone for the help.

it happened to me and I was suffering 40 days with my account .i tried 1000 of phone numbers even the one I created my account. the problem is your VPN is leaking and the auto system detected it .so how I solve it just I left my account for 15 days I didn't sign in and then it automaticly stopped asking for verification.

Ok, so the Magic rule of thumb for you is that u waited 15 straight days without sigining on, and then it worked. Definitely longer the better, best to stop selling on that account once and for all.

No, I wasn't even logged in to pp, I mean I just happened to open Chrome with whichever Google account, didn't matter. When I went to Google voice to get the free number, I set the free number up to forward to a cell phone, hoping the text would go there. It didn't. But then when I was back on my computer, my gmail popped up and said I had a message, and it was pp sending the digits to verify that I had received the text. I didn't even know that would happen.

I didn't even knowingly link an e-mail address with the free google voice number, I guess it just synched up with how I was logged in.....

Now, a real phone call will get forwarded to whatever number you link your google voice number with, that's easy to test, just use skype or some other phone to call your google voice number, and see if the phone you forwarded it to rings.....So if a person calls your google voice number, it will forward to you and you answer. If they text you, the text gets e-mailed to you. And if you don't answer and they leave a message, the voicemail gets e-mailed to you, too, and you just click a play button to listen to it.

I know it's nothing new, but it was new to me until recently.

why would pp text u unless you were trying to send money? If u were not logged into pp, I would assume that you didn't send money to a friend, say your supplier for instance. so the text u were talking about was just to verify your phone number as a new pp account is that correct?
