Added new Wells Fargo to Paypal and got this
 

As suggested here to add Wells Fargo to my paypal. I tried to add it to the paypal by linking the accounts and got a message, sorry we cannot confirm it is you. What did I do wrong?

When do you see this message? Does it appear when you try and add the bank account, or when you are trying to confirm it?

What type of phone # are you using? Cellphone, Google Voice, or something else?

Also, is the paypal account new?
If not - has anything about the way you use the account changed recently? new device? new IP solution?

I have this error to. you have to call paypal the rep should be able to fix it manually.......

the new security update I described is what this is............

Agreed with the above. Don't worry about it, if it still happens in 24 hours, call them and they'll add it for you.

Just signed into the account. Now pop up says I need to confirm information.

Name
Address
SSN
Phone No.

Is this something new?

if you dont have access to the phone number on creation, you will have to hope one day the security check will update with your new number.........

or call in........to add bank and withdraw money.....it automatically pulls security check for those two actions.....its unfortunate you can't add phone in those situations on the spot.

paypal is pretty messed up.....in many regards now....

Sorry to hear about the info request. Apparently Paypal has become more security conscious lately when it comes to users adding a new bank account to old established PP accounts. If you think about it, adding a new bank is probably something a hacker would do if they managed to hack an account with a high balance. So I can understand why it is the way it is. I tried adding a bank account to a 2yr old account a few weeks ago and got the same error message (but not the info request later).

I can only guess you've triggered something and they think your account may have been compromised.

paypal is very aggressive when it comes to security......1 complaint and they don't care if everybody gets affected...they will change everything.......

thanks everyone here. I was scared to call but did it anyway. She said something triggered a security issue, so I dont do it again. What might that have been? She said after 24 hours I can add my bank account. Why do they make you wait?

Trying to add a new bank account to an old Paypal is likely what triggered it. You didn't do anything else, did you?

I can only guess the 24 hour wait has something to do with them thinking the account was compromised. :noidea:

They lied. Tried to add it after she said I could after 24 hours and it still wont allow me.

call and ask to speak to a supervisor and put in a complaint with someone higher up....

same situation for me,

I have an old account opened 2016, I added before boaf account and withdraw few times before. A few months ago bank of america closed my all accounts, I guess it due to opened too many accounts online..

So I want to add my new Chase account right now but it let to me security check page, I don't have same phone now. So I updated my phone with my working t-mobile prepaid line and now it says we don't verify it is you message...

Called paypal and tell them this situation, just didn't say my bank of america closed, first tell me after 24 hours you can add. Tried two days later still didn't add then call again. This time they ask me some public securty questions, I don't have any idea about these questions.. so failed..

Agent just say you can withdraw your money to your already added bank account. System doesn't allow to you add a bank right now...

So is there anybody know or have idea, my new added phone number will be update a few weeks?

Honestly I assumed that was going to happen. The rep was just trying to get you off of the phone so they could get back to playing Solitaire.

the people over at paypal are sleeze balls with this new security update.......the types of hoops you have to go through just to add your bank account......

They lied again. Two days ago said you can now add the bank account. Same issue. Will not allow to be added.

Called them just now, more lies. She said how about adding a pre paid paypal mastercard and then you can withdraw. I kept asking about the bank, she said you can add in 2 more days. I asked if it would work, she said again, best to add a bank debit card or pre paid card. I asked again, will the bank work? Again the bs pre paid or debit card answer so it tells me no it wont work.

I asked what is the issue, she said it is the phone, it does not show in public records that you are the sole owner of this phone number. Is anyone in your family have this number?

What is going on? Please help as I am lost on what to do with their constant excuses and lies.

last week in a phone call, wait 2 days. Waited and did not work.
Days ago again, wait two days it will work. Did not.
Today, wait two days, no guarantee but add your bank debit card instead or a paypal prepaid.

Thinking they kept asking about the phone. Is there a way they are linking bank accounts with phone numbers? Are the banks allowing your phone number to be matched or something?
