What causes buyer limitation Some PayPal accounts that have not bee used to sell or receive any payments got what they call " Buyer limitation " which is usually less risky than selling limitations.
Any thoughts what could lead to this kind of limitations? What buying behavior triggers their attention and let them restrict the account? |
agent006140 | 02-26-2019 12:16 PM | Re: What causes buyer limitation cc issuers subscribe to services which detect suspicious, fraudulent activities and will notify the cc issuer, like the card has been used by a buyer who makes rapid purchases buying items which could quickly turned into cash in a mall or a site from various sellers.
or the owner of the card bought a cup of latte at neighborhood Starbuck and then in an hour he is in Cancun buying expensive jewelry,!
Paypal could do the same,an account in hiatus now go on a shopping spree, buying high value items, like gold, iphones, anything which could be quickly turned into cash.
or they could look at the past buying behavior and notice the buyer is buying outside his normal price range. |

agent006140 | 02-26-2019 01:47 PM | Re: What causes buyer limitation also Paypal offers line of credit ,loan, credit .debit card,I would think this would allow Paypal to pull a credit report.
But just signing up with Paypal,we agree to allow Paypal to pull one, altho it does not do it unless it has to |

But they don't pull your credit and you don't give them permission to when you sign up. If they did, we would all have pulls from Paypal showing up on our credit. And I've never seen anything from Paypal on my credit report.
My understanding is they use a 3rd party to do database questions based off of your credit report, but that's not the same as Paypal pulling your credit. If Paypal checked your credit on signup it would be called a "paypal application" rather than "registration", as is the case with merchant accounts. |

Answer to your question - risky buyer behavior leads to buyer account limitations. Risky behavior is any type of activity that can potentially end up costing Paypal money. |
ebaystealth1974 | 02-27-2019 11:11 AM | Re: What causes buyer limitation However they manage it, I've seen bad credit scores negatively affect paypal accounts. Huge rolling reserves and such.
I've built my credit up 150 points over the last year to get wayyyyyy away from the risk of that!(and other reasons of course) |

read your Paypal terms and agreement.
Paypal also has access to information of retailers who have merchant account to accept credit cards,or had at one time or attempt to apply for one in the past.
Some retailers who have closed shops will sell on internet their remaining inventory and receive payments via Paypal. |
