They'll be gone in the next decade. Couple more "shootings" and they'll start the takeback.. beginning with anyone who has ever been diagnosed with any kind of mental illness. I feel bad for all the people who were conned by their parents into believing they had "ADD" or "ADHD", because those will be one of the first groups to lose gun rights.

On a more serious note though, no, guns won't help. The government has F-35's, drones, a massive military, the media, etc. Trying to fight back with your AR-15 would be suicide if it ever really came to civil war in USA.

I disagree Phaz. I dont think the Military will act upon its residents. The people of the USA have a heck of a lot more guns and people then the USA has military troops. The weapon does not matter.

I've always supposed it would depend on the situation and the lead up.

The Obama admin did a study that determined if there ever were another civil war here (citizens vs. oppressive gov't), 1/3 of the military would immediately defect to the citizens side. Another 1/3 would stay on in their military positions in order to sabotage the government and help the citizens. So the military would become almost useless overnight.

If that were to happen and the US military was fighting other segments of the US military in the streets of Boston or whatever, I don't think it would be long before air strikes start being dropped. The remaining gov-loyal military would use whatever force multipliers (drones, bombs, gas, etc) they have at their disposal to "quell the uprising" and get the country back under control. But then if that happened, the rest of the world would probably intervene to help "save us from our oppressive government" and then everything would go to hell.

Interesting scenarios to ponder for sure.

Exactly. People go crazy when they're given power and it's compounded when they're given permission to kill without repercussions.

Remember that we're talking about a civil war and the military would be fragmented into something new. There have been plenty of civil wars in history where members of the same country fought against each other.

Like I said, they estimate 60-75% of the military would side with the citizens. Their is no foreign opponent in this scenario so Americans killing Americans is inevitable. Those who leave the military to join the citizens would take their military weapons and training with them, and then the "citizens" side would immediately start campaigns to overtake military bases and government buildings in an attempt to limit the gov't's retaliation.

The military itself would be unrecognizable since most in the military are patriots who would not support the oppressive government. Whoever there is left loyal to said gov't in the military would most likely have no problem killing Americans with drones.

Considering how few drone centers there are, it would take YEARS to bomb a considerable number of people.

Drones were just one example of a force multiplier out of many. You could replace the word "drone" in that sentence with "napalm", "biological weapons", "concentration camps", "fighter jets" and dozens of other words and it would have had the same meaning.
