The oher day I recieved a letter from a debt collection agency telling me that Paypal had instructed them to recover a grand sum of £18.53 that I supposedly owe.....Now,as I knew nothing about any debt as I haven't used paypal since the begining of the year,I was a bit suspicious + it had PAYPAL PRIVATE LTD as their client,so I accessed my paypal account & searched right through it for any disputes, owed monies, fees etc. & found nothing,so thinking it might be a Scam I phoned the D.C.A. fter taking my details they told me it was from an old paypal account from 18 months ago.....Now this is where it gets silly.I told them that I knew nothing about it & that paypal hadn't contacted me at all.He asked if my email address was steve****@hotmail.com but it no longer is due to it suddenly getting deleted by hotmail & apparently paypal had been sending emails to that address???? 2 things bug me about this..... 1) How can they send emails to a deleted,non-existing address & not notice this(mine have always been sent back) & 2) Why's it taken all this time to find out about this debt (I still don't know what it's for?).
Sorry for this long explanation but it's really bugged me that someone as big as Paypal can operate like this I can't even contact them direct to explain myself or find out what the £18 is for.......Shall I just pay & do nothing....or refuse untill Paypal give me some info & an explanation,.. Would appreciate some feedback on this please...

I suggest getting a credit report and see if it is on there or not. I would also contact paypal about this, but it seems you can't contact them directly? Why is that?
