Reusing Suspended Info
I know a lot of us are moving away from PayPal forcefully because of managed payments but what I’ve come to realize is PayPal actually doesn’t retain suspended account information like many think.
From what I’ve seen when a PayPal gets suspended usually they delete the account after 1 year or so. This means you can’t log in via your email. You can’t change the password, it’s gone. Nobody knows where this info is stored, I do think for IRS regulations they keep it on some data base, but it’s not the ones where they link accounts. I think if they did, with addresses to names and everything in between it would be nearly impossible for the bot and algorithms not to mass suspend people accidentally - all of the time. PayPal is a global business now, the more users they get each year means it’s more difficult to retain all previous data and use it efficiently.
For example I had a business account in 2016 with EIN that got suspended. It was more so eBay suspended me and I had a pass due balance on PayPal and ultimately the accounts got suspended from that. Since mid 2020 I’ve opened a new fully working account under that same EIN, same business name and have moved over $100,000 without one tiny restriction. I have also opened a new account under my personal name with my SSN verified and even have a PayPal debit card, zero issues.
I cannot speak on international users, I think it’s possible things are treated differently with them. I know Etsy treats them differently. But as long as you allow time to pass, I do believe it’s possible to reuse old info. Some here probably will disagree and say at some point it’ll link but having used PayPal stealth for over 7 years I don’t think so.
