i was just reading and i have come accorss this on the internet about this person using paypal for there buisness.

If you use PayPal I suggest you find an alternative merchant. The experience I have endured since early January '08 has left me flabbergasted at the level of incompetence demonstrated by PayPals so call customer service.

Firstly and without any advanced warning, our business account was set to limited - essentially, our business can not accept payments, make payments, send money, withdraw funds, or close our account.

I was directed to a page asking for details already provided; namely bank verification, telephone verification, and business details - so I enquired what the deal was. After waiting 48 hours I was informed I needed to provide copies of my driving licence, passport, and utility bill. I phoned PayPal asking why they could not ask for these items before limiting my account, thus limiting disruption to my business, which resulted in loss of customers. The arrogant tone was bad enough, but the answer was worse still…I comment this was simply a good example of extremely poor customer service, the arrogant tone on the other end of the PayPal phone simply said, yes of course, good in it.

Let me finish with the codetta – I have furnished PayPal with Company Banking details, verified business address, verified business bank, verified personal bank details, verified home address, business phone number, home number, mobile number, provided copies of passport, driving licence, and utility bill. End result. I’ll copy the e-mail below. Please note no explanation from PayPal as to how they come by the ludicrous decision that my business is an ‘excessive risk.’ PayPal have never been asked to charge back funds to our clients, or been asked for any refund in part or whole, yet we are deemed excessive risk. On top of it all, PayPal will not release money in the account for 180 days (I assume these to be business days), which is in addition to the 3 months I have spend dealing with the whole fiasco.

After reviewing your PayPal account, we have determined there to be
excessive risk involved and we would like to begin parting ways in a manner
that is least disruptive to your business.

If your PayPal account balance is zero, and you have no outstanding issues,
such as unresolved Buyer Complaints or chargebacks, your account will
remain limited.

If there are funds in your account, the remaining account balance will be
held for a period of 180 days in order to minimise chargeback risks. Any
Buyer Complaints or chargebacks received against your account during this
time will be paid from your account balance. Once the 180-day period has
elapsed, you may either withdraw to a bank account that is registered on
your PayPal account, or request a wire transfer for a fee of 40.00 USD.

Right now it's impossible to even register for paypal as a buyer. It just says "page not found" after dealing with their unpleasant registration process for every form of registering they have and every browser.

I had an ebay account for over 8 years before I got suspended!!! it sucks!

Yeah ebay and paypal both suck, but moping about it will not get you anywhere, be pro-active, buy the stealth book, read and digest all the information contained in both the book and on these forums and I gurantee you as long as you don't sell any counterfeit items you'll be up and running on ebay and will be able to stay selling on ebay.

can't you just integrate your merchant account with authorize.net into your Vendio account (if you have one).. when doing this do you have to get your merchant account approved by ebay?

Authorize.net through Auctiva anyone use it? they charge extra but Auctiva automatically invoices which is real nice..anyone use this??

if i set up a googlecheckout can ebay find out the email linked to it?

i havent had any problems with paypal or ebay thus far. i have about 5 accounts running today.

This question was asked twice in this thread. No one really answered it. Also finding it hard to find good concrete info on any thread on how to move away from having to use paypal on pre and post 11/07 accounts. I have both.

What about taking the time to set up around 10 ebay and paypal accounts. That way you can stop using any problem accounts and have a new PP /Ebay account to carry on with.

It takes time to build up several accounts as you will need as many bank accounts to match and as many credit cards or virtual cards.

But it will be worth the effort. Paypal is still the easiest way to receive payments with an ebay account.

If i get a merchant account, im assuming there will be no chargebacks or limitations etc all the hortible things you experience with paypal. However, i wondered one thing, because i am going to be selling on ebay and 99% of customers pay via paypal, how does it really work. doesnt it reduce your sales and number of customers who pay by paypal??

i would like to hear ans?

Now days ebayers have turned into true scammers ( can't leave bad feedback man reason) they will do worthless chargebacks on paypal and other merchant accounts and most likely win since the backs front the money back to them on the chargeback. Your best bet is to take a check.

Hi Guys. I heard having third part checkout i.e. e-junction or DPD will reduce the risk of limitation. So if i use E-Junction on ebay sales (paypal and google checkout integrated), is it true you are less likely to be limited from paypal?? Looking for ways to avoid Paypal limitation. I feel like there is no point of having a new account if you know paypal will limit at some point? Is there any way you could avoid paypal limitation, i read an e-book, it gives me some good info, all info is also available here, withdrawal amount, ip changes etc all the basic things that should dont do when you are new. But one thing that is mentioned and recommended there is THIRD PART checkout like E-junction, any good for UK ?

I offer alternatives and hardly ever get credit card/cheque/P.O options taken up....paypal has its downsides but it depends what you sell and how much they cost, I do not recommend high priced goods, under £100 is more than enough, because as you say, scammers are attracted to high priced goods, they will pick those becuse why would they do multiple small chargebacks, when they can do one biggie! Remember too that paypal fights chargebacks sometimes, especially if customer has a history of doing them....

Can anyone shed some light on starting a merchant account?

There are several Merchant accounts out there and there will be some thread on the best ones to use, just do a search and search keywords such as "Merchant accounts" and other similar searches.

You can do this at the top bar of the aspkin page when logged in.

My personal opinion is that I use Paypal with ebay all the time. The reason is that the integration is easy compared to the effort you have to put in with configuring a merchant account with ebay.

Also the extra fees put me off.

I would stick with ebay + Paypal, but use what you learn in stealth to always have a fresh new ebay and Paypal account ready to go if you experience problems, suspensions or limitations.

It does take a bit of work to set up several Paypal accounts and to get them fully verified, but it is worth it.

N.B When setting up a new Paypal account you have to be a bit creative and think outside of the box.

If you do your reading here you will learn how to make ebay and PP work together for you and not against you. Like Neo said, the integration that they offer makes it much easier to use them.

Def feel like paypal is a dead end.... i miss the old Paypal.... Anywho i just purchase the Ebay Stealth 3.0 and studying it tonight and the next couple of days! iam here to say hello to everyone and hope everyone is becoming successfull with the help of this community! :-)

I've heard of sucess over the years with doing every single thing fresh, and using a new-used computer after changing your ip address. Of course new used computer must be not linked to an old account either. So using your grandmother's old computer, even with a fresh install of the OS is always a safer bet.

Use pictures that were not saved on old computer, not the same size pix as on old computer, different wording (and pricing) on shipping methods, different way to word item descriptions, different way to price, like if you used 29.99 per item, you need to start charging 28.98. You really need to think everything through and think outside of the box as someone said.

If everything is different, then everything is different. It is imposible to link two accounts together that have not one single thing in common (excpet city of ip). You need to even start selling things you never sold before. Look up items on ebay that you never looked at before. Look up levi jeans, and see what the prices are, and buy a pair if they look cool. AND Use new passcodes, they even are look for passcodes that match suspended accounts.

Sell some odd items you never sold before, and slowly work your way into your other stock of goods.

Do not open emails from your old email address on this new computer. Use new computer for only new email and new account. Use old computer to read emails on old email account.

These are just some basics, not intended to replace buying the guide, but to let you know you really need to CYA when doing each and every single thing.

Use paymate and rotate when using paypal. Depending on the items you sell of course.
