Even assuming you never get a check, the fact ppl sue these scammers and win will have an effect. If more people do the same, it will snowball

Possibly - quite a lot of ppl perceive lawsuits as a hassle so that mindset still in effect...

They're not out to scam legitimate traders, I'll wager 99% of grievances and lawsuit threats are from dodgy traders or folk who genuinely broke their AUP.

But, looking at this thread as an example, it could be said that ill-thought lawsuits which end up in this situation will embolden paypal to believe they're on solid ground.

Lets not forget the numbers are tiny, Joe Public doesn't care and paypals reputation will remain untarnished.

Don't get me wrong, their penalties are absurd, but they know who they're targeting and they can get away with it.

Update - Paypal is smart, they want you to fill out a W2 or W9 or 1099 or something like that. If not from the US, they are basically saying since we are paying you out this amount, we want you to pay taxes on it aka we need your name and info. They most likely know all about stealth accounts and know that the info on the account is made up and not really mine.

Therefore the lawfirm said that it won't work out and they wished me the best of luck lol.... paypal wins once again *sigh*

why is the law firm sending WP,this is not new income,this is recovering your past sales proceed/,it isgross proceeds after paypal and ebay fee,and does not include your cost of good sold and shipping
you would be double reporting your income,but then 3 years have gone by/

No paypal is the one sending it / requesting it.
