PP stole 3.4k from me under AUP, went with a no cost upfront lawfirm I got put on through that one website that helps with all types of claims. Won 2k of it back, well 1.3k after lawfirm fee, still better than nothing as I chalked it up to awhile ago.
Lawfirm sent me forms to sign that include a W-9 since this is income over $600. They also send a check in the mail, so not as easy as depositing to bank account. So obviously its time to come clean, just don't know in what way to do it lol. I'm in the USA as well.

paypal lose court cases very frequently , on large amounts they usually agree to out of court settlements but demand to sign a non disclosure agreement

Ehh can't think about it that way. It's better than zero, which is what I was expecting and what 95%+ of people in the same position get. Nor would I even want to bother the lawyer to try to get more, as I have to drop the "Thats not my real name on the account" line on them shortly. Don't know if we'll even get to proceed after that.

Well I haven't gotten anything yet lol. Unsure what the lawyer will say when i tell them "Sooo the name on the account and address are completely made up".
They might say I have to update both on the account to my name and address (if possible) and this would totally ruin my 10+ year actual personal & business accounts as i'm sure paypal will link them and ban.

Update: Lawyer says she needs to ask boss how to proceed. Apparently paypal is the one asking for a W-9 aka my info. I'm afraid this would link to my actual real business paypal since my SSN is attached. So it comes down to is it worth being banned forever from Paypal over $1300? That amount to be honest is a lot for me right now. I barely have any expendable income after I pay all my expenses every month.

$1300 is little money nowadays, you need more to survive long term and if I have to choose between a long term money making account and instant gratification $1300 now, I'd choose my long term money making account.
And if that account isn't making me enough, then I'll do my best to make it so.
Suffer a little bit but be relieved in the long run

Whilst we're not privvy to the contract you signed with the lawyers, I'll wager they will want paying if you back out so this whole exercise would end up costing you money and paypal get to keep your funds.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but surprised this scenario wasn't raised with your lawyers beforehand.

But sounds like OP is also rather desperate for the $$ so we can't blame him.
Whatever happens, I hope he won't risk his money making goose

A clerk who handles your case gets a copy of your W-9,is he going to key all that information into the data Base?and how many data bases do they have?
It would take a bot which catches wrongdoers to sweep database(s) to connect
your two accounts based on SSN,AND then what?Is it programmed to conclude these are the same person and ban your good account?
It is a chance you will have to take.

Yeah while not 100% certain they would link my account and ban my personal business paypal, pretty high chance.
I don't use paypal to sell anything, just use it to buy things. But its a 10 year old account that has done many money in the past, so would hurt if I did need it in the future.
Lawfirm is kind of just like a beginner type once who works with fairshake. I doubt they did much besides send a demand letter. They're only taking 33% share, no upfront money, so doubt they have use any major "manpower" / time effort into these things. Either way I would kind of feel bad backing out on them at this point.

I would have tried to deposit the check into my account by online banking, I am sure it does not scan the name just the account and routing number and technically you could endorse it on the back as though you cashed it for the payee.

Yes, have done this before as well, deposited checks in another name via online banking via a scan. I also never use gaypal for selling, only for purchases. They screwed me over for the last time when they tried to lock funds for an item which took me hours to build. Since they have been removed from all my websites. Never again scammers.
