WOW! INSTANT payment received

Just thought I'd share another one of my POSITIVE stories. I have a new stealth account (about 3 weeks old). I sold two items for around $30 a piece and the third item I listed sold for WAY more than I expected ($750)

So I woke up this morning and instead of a "payment received" 21 day hold PayPal email I got the "instant payment" email and the $750.00 is available for withdrawal. WTH?? This is a 3 week old PP account with 3 eB feedback (1 seller), no listed DSRs.

About the account:
-This is a VCC & Real bank verified PP account
-I didn't lift my $500 monthly limit, so I will have to withdraw in increments if I don't get limited first.
-eBay has 3 feedback, 1 seller
- made 1 withdrawal for $33 from this PP before.
- This is not a VERO or high risk item but that hasn't meant anything in the past as I sell this type of item all the time and still get 21 day hols EVERY time.

My only thought is maybe PP let it slide so I can try and withdraw the money and then hit me with a limitation at withdrawal???

Anybody have any input on similar experiences? How should I withdraw without being limited for sure? Any thoughts on how this one got by the 21 day hold?

id lift the limit then pull out $100 on a weekday.

I've had this happen and my guess is a couple things come into play. One, the strength of your account. Whatever they decide makes a more trustworthy "new" account, you seem to have fit the bill better then some accounts. And more importantly, the sender. If they are verified and long standing and used paypal balance, not credit card, this make PayPal feel way better. They have full control on this payment. No credit card chargebacks. When nobody but PayPal controls the money, as in using balance in account, they can be more liberal

Now how fast you can pull that cash out is another story too...

I too have had this happen, it still doesn't mean that other categories of items when bought wont having the payment held by PayPal.

Let us know when you decide to sell high-risk vero so we can see if it has the same outcome.

@OG, :thumb: always on the ball for a work-around LOL

Instant payment happens to every account once in a blue moon.

2 months ago, paypal risk department called me and our conversation lasted for 40 minutes offering me solution... another bull**** crap they offering.

As i complained too many payment holds against seller and as a verified business account holder with monthly transaction around $50k USD, it's really annoying and a hassle and that is why they called me up to discuss.

What they proposed is to allocate some ready funds for stock purchases and with this you can complete the transaction quickly with customers while waiting for payment hold to clear.... again they stressed they cannot lift up rethe payment hold or make an exception request to remove that limit.

and that is what they called SOLUTION and i hung up...

one month later, everything become instant payment and now back to square one............... sigh

@smithgroup, how did your withdrawal go? Sometimes the instant payment is just an enticing incentive to punch the cash out and then...you get limited. Please follow-up your positive experience =)

Well, Before Weighing in on this Thread, I have 1 Question, Did you expect to Get about $30.00 for the third item as well?

Haha yeah that is a HUGE jump if you only expected $30. Maybe there were two extremely competitive bidders and at some point they didn't even care about the item just that they wanted to win the auction! I'm pretty sure this has happened to a couple of my auctions. I remember one item was suppose to end at around $30-$40 but ended up at $73 because of two crazy bidders that were at war. Of course when I sent the second chance offer I got no response :heh:

My very new account did this same thing too but, not as much as $750! I have made 4 sales on the new account and the first 2 payments were put on hold. The third instantly cleared and the fourth went back on hold. All the same item in different colors.

UPDATE:

I never lifted the $500 monthly limit on this account so I bought a few items on eBay for around $200, paid eBay fees and withdrew the remaining $400 in one shot. 2 days later, its in the bank! (HSBC). I did all this activity during 3-4 AM thinking there may be less scrutiny from actual human beings at PP.

Woke up the next day fully expecting a reversal of the $400 withdrawal and a limitation but everything was still OK!

So I said great once in a lifetime!!!! BUUUTTTTT, Checked eBay and the guy who bought it said he misread the description, so I had no choice but to offer him a refund.

I did a "sell similar" for his item and told him to wait until the new item sells for his refund, he agreed since it was his fault.

The second (relsited) item sold for $880 so around $900 w/shipping. They paid with PP as soon as the auction was over and................... another INSTANT PAYMENT, no 21 day hold! WTH?? SO I refunded the original buyer and still had some money left over which is still in there because of my $500 monthly withdrawal limit.

I really don't know what to say but thank you to the magical force that allows PP instant payments. I really needed the cash too since its time for rent.

I fully expect a HUGE, full blown, full list SSN, invoice, supplier limitation as soon as the employees at PP realize I slipped through the cracks.

At which point I fully expect myself to upload some vulgar image as my "invoices":pound:

Wow, congrats on your luck, however, I do believe they will soon catch up with you.. :)

bmwsouthside 09-04-2010 01:35 AM

I got instant payments too on 15 positive feedback

I believe there is some magical formula they use too.
I was using the same log-in location and was using the account to list 6-7 items at a time. never more. I would sell some $5-$10 items such as cds or xmas ornaments then maybe 1 or 2 vero items mixed in worth maybe $500+ each. They sent me a letter saing they would remove my holds since I had such a good track record.
I withdrew 300 then 400 per day with no issues. did not have one problem.
account was made with green dot card for verification and bank. never had an issue.
eventually got limited for another reason by the time I got 50 positive feedback. it was good while it lasted.

Exactly. They are setting up for the you got screwed message

jesseinkaron 09-10-2010 07:03 AM

Yeah .. I just had this problem.

For months I was having the 21 day hold . And just as the bulk of that money was comming up to be available , instant payments started comming in .
Then .. BAM .. RX1034 limited... another 180 day wait !
It should be illegal for them to hold money for 180 days.
Especially when they deny buyers charebacks after 45 days.

HurricaneHuntr 09-10-2010 09:38 AM

It's actually resolution cases 45 days. they can charge back for upto 6 months i think. I had one that came up as " buyer tried to open dispute" blah blah blah ...less than a day later" CHARGEBACK :XXXXX credit card

jesseinkaron 09-10-2010 11:11 AM

You can chargeback your credit card payments .. if you used a credit card.
But as far as disputes with paypal .. they do not investigate after 45 days (unless they are contacted by the credit card company)
