So, PayPal called on at least (that we know of) two of your stealth accounts. One with HSBC and one with BOA.
So the banks closed your accounts, which I cannot say is an unreasonable response. From their perspective, PayPal called and gave them an account number and probably the stealth name. That put you on their radar, and what they can see is several PayPal payments coming into your accounts under different names. A reasonable person could decide that you may be committing fraud. So, they decided just to get rid of the relationship to avoid any potential risk. That makes sense to me.
PayPal may or may not know about ALL of your stealth accounts, but they obviously know that something is wrong and they are investigating.
That would be more concerning to me. If this is just a random PayPal thing, then getting two accounts flagged at the same time would be highly unlikely. My guess is there are some common threads in the accounts they found. It COULD be unpaid fees, but I don't think that is it.
To the OP: Do you have any idea what those common threads could be? |
