I really think it has to do with past banking history, credit history, perhaps income, who knows, odd for sure. Ask them when you go in as to what the details were to close it. If they dont know ask to contact the person that does. I would want to know for sure if they let me open one and then close it for the reason of high risk.

There is a law against what BOA is doing, so I think it is just being overlooked randomly.

And what law is that? You do everything online. Ive gotten a credit card that i ordered online. I set up my BoA account online back in 2010 and my Chase bank about 6 months ago. BoA asked alot of questions though. Alot of credit history questions, previous addresses, fathers middle name, sisters age, to me it just seem like random questions and how the hell would they even know the answers? Cause im sure my fathers middle name and my sisters age IS NOT in my credit report.

I also set up an Ally bank account last week, no problems. Im sure if there was a law against it, no bank would allow you to open a bank account online. The option is there to keeps the lines and wait time at the bank lower, so the bank tellers and other people working there get paid for doing less work. I love the technology world. Have less people working for a corporation, computers doing most of the work, and people get paid more. 21 Century! OohRah!

the last statement in the post is why america struggles in many many ways. I use my local banks a lot also. When you get a good rep with them they will work for you not against you.

I'm with Ally too. Never gave me any problems. I used to use ING Direct with my stealth accounts but they started giving me (and many others I'm sure) problems.

What type of problems did you have with ING? I'm using both Ally and ING both with 10 savings account each. Only problem i'm running into now is with ALLY its not allowing paypal to verify the bank account.

sergfro 08-17-2011 04:34 PM

wow maybe I should keep some $$ in there. I transfer all the $ to my main account once the $ hits Ally

HurricaneHuntr 08-17-2011 05:14 PM

I think i brought it on myself, i complained about a fee i was charged... and that i think got my account looked into > < Ally was great i wish there was a similar online alternative.

sergfro 08-17-2011 05:21 PM

ing works perfect with me. ive used it for over 6 months with 10 saving accounts

HurricaneHuntr 08-17-2011 05:32 PM

i swore i read on here ING will reject deposits that aren't your name?

sergfro 08-17-2011 05:39 PM

all 10 of my ING saving accounts are under my name but they are connected to stealth paypal with different names.

I think what Moscutter meant was that ING does not accept deposits from PayPal accounts that have names different than that on the bank accounts.

sergfro 08-17-2011 10:37 PM

ING has accepted all my deposits from paypal account. all my paypal accounts are verified through ING bank...its ALLY that has all of the sudden denied paypal deposits

HurricaneHuntr 08-17-2011 10:41 PM

ahh yeah never had that problem with ally, but i am sure it is random

adl0816 08-17-2011 11:03 PM

So both Ally and ING can accept PayPal deposits with a name on the PayPal account that is different than that on the bank account?

sergfro 08-17-2011 11:52 PM

What happened to the thread where it showed a lot of banks that dont care if paypal name differs? Would help greatly

UnderBites08 08-18-2011 12:29 AM

Yeah Im wondering the same thing what banks allow funds to be transfered with the name being diff?

HurricaneHuntr 08-26-2011 05:01 PM

Any updates on ing?

Sooner 08-31-2011 02:59 PM

Like KingRay, I use BOA. I opened my first account with them 4 years ago after moving to TX from OK. If I remember correctly I had to sign a document and mail it back to BOA. I don't remember if they sent it to me or I printed it off my computer. I opened a new BOA checking account last week and another checking account today. These two new checking accounts will eventually be linked to my two new pp accounts.

Anyone use WoodForest Bank inside of some Wal Marts?

ornament 09-11-2011 11:26 PM

This question has been ask twice on this thread and the link i found on another thread is dead - where is the list of banks that can be used with Paypal - using different names?!

ass11078 08-04-2012 11:39 AM

besides ally, boa, ing, chase what other banks are good? is usaa bnak good?

GofortheGold 08-04-2012 04:38 PM

While we're on the subject of bank accounts, even if you can get away with different names on bank accounts in the short run, you run a risk in the long run, especially with the US patriot act. It's still good practice to have a variation of your name when withdrawing to your bank account. If it's a completely different name, the deposits might look suspicious.
