Dmshark25 | 06-01-2013 08:45 PM | Still having problems? |
Yep same thing. Can't add a US account to CA paypal. |
blueskyorders | 06-01-2013 09:04 PM | paypal wants to call the phone number registered with them, but the issue is the phone number is not in use any more.
tried to go to" profile" update a new phone number,if it was a mobile phone number ,paypal will send a code to verify you own this phone number.
I did not have a phone number that can receive their text. have not tried to add the landline phone number.
I recently have the same issue,I can't add a us bank to a canada paypal |
Yeah, seems like they might be fazing out the US accounts. I've been getting this error constantly on new, fresh accounts and VBAs. |
Dmshark25 | 06-01-2013 09:34 PM | Maybe try calling Paypal anonymously from a totally diff number to ask if Canadian accounts accept US banks anymore , just say ur thinking of opening an account |

Did you notice this thread at all? That's all together scary
 http://www.aspkin.com/forums/canada-...sking-sin.html |
Yeah I noticed a few weeks ago. I hadn't made any accounts for a while then saw that. I freaked out and didn't notice the "optional" until a few seconds after.
I think they put it there just to fish for people willing to show it, but it's still very optional and I didn't have any problems with new accounts thereon... well, except for now with the US VBA's. |

Used a normal US bank account 1 week account ago - hmm will revisit.
BC accounts eh GB with USA account - may I ask what US bank? |
supermandead | 06-05-2013 12:18 AM | Any update on the situation? |
stanislav | 06-05-2013 01:27 AM | If they are asking for SIN as optional for now, it means that soon it will be required by Canada revenue. We are ****ed ... |

We are ****ed ... | It will never be "soon" required - Canada Revenue is very good for keeping SIN numbers out of non-governmental agencies UNLESS you are employed. The principle of SIN is well protected and is often VOLUNTARY not required...should be PP try to make this a requirement, they would violate many rules about it - PP is too smart to do that. |

Any update on a resolution for this? Ive gotten this error when attempting to add a US account to a Canadian PP. Even attempted a small local credit union and received the same message. You are unable to add a bank account at this time. "this is not a VBA, but a real account at brick and mortar bank"
Maybe US accounts are phased out completely? |
No updates, nothing new. Can't add US accounts, period. So yes, I think they are stopping US accounts. My guess is they caught on, or have alot of people from the US opening CA accounts because it's "easier" (ie no public database). |
