Your account has been limited

Has anyone else been hit with this stupid rule?

Hi Paypal Team,
This morning I received the email below, asking me to provide certain documents to verify my compliance with your policies.
I immediately provided the documents, but your phone advisor Sam informed me that there is a 3-4 week wait to have the documents reviewed by your team, during which time my business is unable to receive or withdraw funds.
Your action has effectivley closed my business without reasonable notice or justification.
If you had given me 3- 4 weeks notice to provide the documents it would be reasonable to freeze my account if I didn't comply by the due date, but to initiate a restriction like this without due cause is unconscionable.
I expect that this issue is also being experienced by many business owners who rely 100% on Paypal to carry on their trade.
Your policy is unreasonable, unfair and most likely in breach of the Australian Trade Practices Act.
On behalf of all the account holders affected by your crippling actions I demand that you immediately lift the restriction on our accounts and change your compliance policy so that we can either continue trading while you review our compliance or else give us reasonable time to comply.

I would remove the PayPal Email ID, all the personal information on that email you have just pasted.

The wrong type of eyes watch this forum

Thanks Callidus. Some one seems to have removed it for me.

Fortunately Paypal restored my account, and sent a generic "we fixed your problem and we're always here to help" reply to my complaint.

No comment on how their ridiculous policy might be affecting others, or whether they intend to change it.

Actually I did give them the docs. Then when I rang to ask how long it take to get re-instated, the support person told me that the compliance review team would take 3-4 weeks, and I could not contact the compliance team because they worked in a room without phones!
That's when I emailed them the complaint.
Anyway, I guess I was lucky to get the continuation. It wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been for me, but how many others are suffering losses because of this silly procedure?

Be careful of how much you have sold or they may turn around and re-ask for the ID again to cover the $1000 anti money laundering limits.

Did you know about that?

No need to be crafty. Just upload the docs ASAP and then send this message to as many people in Paypal as you can:

The continuation was that I got reinstated by the end of the day.
The complaint was that email that I pasted in your other post.

Well, I don't know if I should put a cap on sales from my business for fear of triggering another compliance review, but your point emphasizes mine at the start of the thread - It's reasonable for Paypal to ask for compliance documents, but only if they give us reasonable time to provide them and allow us to continue trading in the meantime.
