Default Vanilla visa verification problem

Hello all,

I created a PayPal account today using a vanilla visa card. This time though the PayPal account wasn't verified whereby the yearly receiving limit didn't go up to £1900.

Normally when creating accounts and then adding the visa card it lifts the limit on PayPal from £500 a month /£650 a year to £1900 but not this time. Does anybody know why this could be?

Unless ive fallen asleep somewhere, i didnt think vanilla visa was an option in the UK.

So, am i correct that you have verified your paypal with a bank account and.then tried to.confirm with a vanilla visa??

As said, really didnt think vanill visa was an option. I know there have been some claims for suxh cards to now exist in local stores but not checked it out myself.

Much prefer entropay.
3V is another option for the UK

Have you verified this account with a bank account first?

Hi there I have not verified it with a bank .... I know you must do this to get limits lifted initially, however the last couple of paypal accounts I created, I have always used the vanilla visa to verify my account and lift limits to 1900 pounds, instead of risking a bank account on a fresh account. It has always worked fine when I link the visa card to paypal and from there I could always link that paypal to ebay to start selling....

It may be a one off or something might have changed in the system, so I wanted to know if anyone knows anything about this issue

In the UK bank accounts do need to be added to verify the paypal and usually not doing that creates problems in itself, there have previous posts about that, if yiu have got away with not doing that a couple of times you have been lucky, I'm guessing you gave not tried to withdraw any funds from your other ebay accounts? Because you would have no way of doing that.

Yes when my account is live going well after maybe 100/200 pounds of sales or after an extended period of time I can be confident and add the bank account to the paypal and withdraw my money. Lets say you add it straight away and something goes wrong within a couple of weeks, and your banned that bank account will be of no use. This is why I do this...

But yeah for all my accounts which are going well I do eventually add my bank account and withdraw my money

While I prefer to verify my pp before doing sales, your approach is used my many...I just wonder if the security on the account is bit less due to having no bank account

But it is just as likely to be that your account may get limited for the very reason that you have not added a bank account to it, especially if you are as you say sometimes leaving your PayPal for 'an extended period of time', in which case there could be quite a bit of money in the account and you are bringing unnecessary stress to yourself and raising flags on your account by doing this!

Yes definitely could, differing factors are important for different sellers. With Paypal and Ebay I think you just gotta be cautious and really know what you want and how to do it properly.
