golferman | 09-08-2015 07:41 PM | Lose seller protection change name that exceeds 40 Characters Got a issue. I sold a item but that buyer shipping name/business exceeds over 40 characters so i cannot ship the item via eBay shipping label.
Now I can change or shorten the name but I lose seller protection..
item is $85
What should I do? |
BigCJ | 09-08-2015 07:44 PM | Re: Lose seller protection change name that exceeds 40 Characters Tell the buyer to change their address before you ship?
Say that ebay is giving you an error. |

Say that ebay is giving you an error. | I showed the error to the buyer screenshot.
It is the name that is the issue not the address. Buyer have a long business name |

Then input the tracking number to eBay.
Here is the link to ship manually through PayPal... https://www.paypal.com/shipnow
Most people don't know about this link, I even use it for shipping non-eBay transactions as well. :) |

As long paypal/Ebay knows i ship directly to the address same address and same name i should be fine
When i shorten the name on eBay the paypal seller protection words go away and a message pops up saying i lose protection
hopefully this other way will work |

Tracking with USPS does not show those details anyways. |
Re: Lose seller protection change name that exceeds 40 Characters Problem with manual writing? |

Problem with manual writing? | Tons of problems.
1.) INSANELY SLOW
2.) You have to go to the post , as in drive, wait in line, buy postage, etc..
3.) You have to physically read off the tracking and type it into ebay, etc...
4.) Please stop recommending this because it is not very helpful :FF: |
Re: Lose seller protection change name that exceeds 40 Characters Ok just was looking at it as a one-off thing due to name being long... |

Tracking with USPS does not show those details anyways. | I like shipping directly through eBay because like I said Ebay will know I shipped directly to the customer address since they are able to see how i created the label
With that being said if there is any dispute I would have an advantage vs going to the post office and writing out my own label which shows it shipped to an area code |

Printing a label on ebay does nothing more for you. Never has and never will.
Quite frankly, delivered is delivered and not delivered is not delivered. It is all in the tracking. If you ship an item and it does not arrive, you are going to loose no matter where the label was created.
Never write out an address. That is crazy. |
golferman | 09-09-2015 11:28 AM | Re: Lose seller protection change name that exceeds 40 Characters Thanks..
1 more note, I was wrong. The seller protection that was getting removed was NOT for Paypal but it was Ebay seller protection |

same difference be cause they can open a case on BOTH. You must follow all both set of rules and fortunately are now basically the same. |
dbhana121 | 09-10-2015 02:14 AM | Re: Lose seller protection change name that exceeds 40 Characters I handwrite all my labels, because i cant be asked to print them out. Also i get a bit of a kick out of it, writing 15-20 labels. Also my writing is neat [emoji14] |
golferman | 09-10-2015 01:01 PM | Re: Lose seller protection change name that exceeds 40 Characters Well I ended up just removing a (space) between the business name and it worked. I never touched the address or name just removed a space
The seller protection on eBay was removed but I confident it won't matter.
EBay can see the messages I sent him regarding this issue and he told me to just fix it
Bay knows I shipped directly to him because I used Ebay /Paypal shipping |

No way anyone with business sense is writing out 100+ labels a day, bring them to the post office, standing in line, PAYING MORE for shipping and tracking.
It is illogical and inefficient but if it works for you and your business, kudos!
