Can use also at Dollar General but I dont think you can buy gift cards, but they do have tracfones and verizons and a couple others.

Re: Spend your Paypal money here!

To anyone who was intrigued by my idea yesterday, it doesn't work. You may have been able to pay at Home Depot with stealth paypal's when the program was new but not anymore. I grabbed a few cheap things and went to a self checkout and selected paypal payment. Then I was prompted to register my paypal account for in-store use. I didn't try to do it but I'm assuming they would ask for ID proving I own the paypal account if I did. They were probably forced to start doing this when they started getting hit with chargebacks from stolen paypal accounts.

Anyway, it was worth a shot. :(

This could be useful.. do you know if they do any ID verification? When I tried to pay with Paypal at Home Depot I was prompted to register my Paypal account for in-store use. It was a stealth Paypal with bogus details so I did not get any further.

I might just go try at DG and report back..

What exactly do you mean by "it doesn't go thru"? Any idea why the transaction fails?

i figured it out, you have to log into your paypal account from mobile, then setup the the payanywhere and then you pick the store u want to go to, and you want to go to and it gives you a transaction id that you input at the store terminal.

So, this would be very risky to try with a stealth account, don't you think? :noidea:

I say that because I only have a few stealth's based in my home state, and the rest are a few states away from me. I'm thinking it would raise a red flag with paypal if my account is registered in 90210 and I'm trying to pay with Paypal at a DG in 34474.

I didn't do much investigating at Home Depot the other day, but this may be the same thing you have to do there to pay with your paypal account.

cmbhuy - Do you have any experience actually paying for stuff at a "brick & mortar" with a stealth paypal? I prefer to learn from your experience rather than burning one of my accounts :)

I was just at office max yesterday and seen paypal in the credit card processor, so i ended up using it, you needed a phone number and password. I used it before for office max online and than picked up , but this was the first time using it at checkout, everything went right thru

ok so i did a little bit more testing and it seems to be work fine, after you set it up for instore payments, which basically requires you to sign in on the mobile app. i tried 4 stores, Dollar General, Home Depot, Office Depot, and Toys r Us, at Home Depot, Office Depot and Toy r us, all you need to use is your mobile number + your pin, at dollar general you need the app and pick that dollar general location on the app, and slide the P to the right it will give you a 4 digit code, you just input that into the register and voila you can get $40 cash back to lol.
so i guess you can cash out $40 at a time if you want lmao

$40 at a time is better than no cash out at all, I guess. So I was wrong about them asking to verify your identity when you set up in store payments. That is what scared me away at home depot the other day.

So, at the stores you say you only need the phone # + PIN, would this be possible if you do not have the original phone used to create the account? Or are you saying it requires the mobile app with all 4 stores?

For example, I do not own the original phone for one of my accounts. I could easily add a PIN number to the account, and I've memorized the phone number on the account. Would I be able to set up in store payments with this account? Or would I be required to install the Paypal app on the original phone for this to work?

Either way, I appreciate your research. I'm really interested in this idea because buying new stuff in stores and reselling can easily be turned into a (laborious) cashout method..

Re: Spend your Paypal money here!

You just need to sign into the mobile app to setup instore payments, you don't need the original phone number. you can install the app however you want but of course you don't want to link yourself between accounts. there ways you can do it i've posted before.

Re: Spend your Paypal money here!

Would it be possible for me to setup instore payments from home using an emulator before I go to the store? None of my accounts are set up with smartphones..

Edit: Also, what exactly do you have to do to set up instore payments?

cmbhuy 02-07-2016 01:10 PM

Re: Spend your Paypal money here!

yeah it should work. i'm not sure if how long the code last for dollar general though. and i haven't spent over $100 at each store so i'm not sure how much it would approve for, i've heard of people having problems, but in my experience i haven't run into any.

cmbhuy 02-07-2016 01:11 PM

Re: Spend your Paypal money here!

go ahead and test it out and report back. works fine for me so far.
too bad you can't buy giftcards / debit cards or that would be a real cashout method lol

phaz0rz 02-07-2016 01:12 PM

Re: Spend your Paypal money here!

I plan to I'm just being as careful as possible, because I don't have any "burner" paypals. It would hurt for me to lose any of them.

How do you set up instore payments? Is it an option in Paypal?

Re: Spend your Paypal money here!

yeah you will find it, it will ask you to like add a cc if you dont have it, and like take a picture of yourself, but i just used a blank picture.

You can buy Bitcoin(have to buy Linden Dollars first then exchange for BTC) at Virwox.com but their fees are pretty brutal. Also there are daily/weekly/monthly limits.

Walmart e-gift cards $20 or less are very useful, especially when you have a lot of stealths as you can use them all at once at checkout.
Same with Home depot $25 gift cards.
Anything more and the system seems to block them.

I've had success with gyft before, just shift the money to an aged account and all you need to verify is a phone number with gyft. I've purchased around $600 in amazon cards so far. But i've know people that have had to put all sorts of info for gyft if it's a new account and such. Worth a try though.

I've used PayPal at Dollar General. No id required. But I couldn't make a purchase over $50. Everything over that amount was getting declined. Only totals under $50 would work. I posted a thread about it.

It may even be possible to purchase online from them using a stealth paypal. They offer to ship to store so that would bypass the "stealth address" problem. I suppose it would be problematic when you go to pick up the mower and your ID doesn't match the paypal account though. Hell, I think I would get a f ake ID made for a new lawn mower. Still may be possible to make large purchases in store using paypal. I don't know, but it's an interesting possibility to ponder...

EDIT: On a side note, anyone else notice Home Depot's typo?

It is why similar name accts are golden.

For in-store purchases at hd, my first and maximum purchase was 150$

Phone number & 4 digit pin. No email.

((My stealth is going on 3 years. Created with gv#, all information registered on major public databases.. I opted for the pay in store option in December. Since my gv# is home contact#, a new cell phone + # was added as mobile# for conformation.
