Default How is this possible? Not complaining :)

Hi everyone,

3 or 4 months ago I was closed by NatWest I was told I could never bank with them again.

Today I decided to apply for a NatWest bank online and I was accepted with the exact same real information I used which got my accounts closed last time.

How was this possible? I'm not complaining one bit in fact I'm over the moon about it :D

It may be an oversight on their part.

I would be a bit careful with that account

What made them close your account?

I wouldn't put a penny through that account. Closure is imminent.

Wouldn't use these accounts at all. Plenty of other options out there, why take a risk?

Would be interested to know why your accounts were closed. If you owed money and are yet to pay then it is suicide putting 's through there. Either way your activity is likely to be watched closely and you risk further flags.

Really no need to do this.

They closed my accounts as I opened quite a few in a few weeks and then closed down a few pretty quickly as I didn't need them. But I probably shouldn't use the account even if I do receive the welcome pack and card.

This time with any of your future accounts never open many accounts close together. When starting on a new account use what is provided then slowly as in (4-7 months) in your case open a new account. This will keep the heat off of you

The automated system will approve your account being open and then a week or 2 after you get the card etc.. You will probably get an account closure letter after your name flags up

Numbers please. How many did you open, and close and in what time frame.

How much went through the accounts?

It is all good info to how you can be advised and how others may learn to.

In the USA, we have more than 7000 banks. Is it not similar in the UK? Just curious as to why you want to deal with a bank that you already had problems with unless it is kinda needed.

Maybe a year is long - could do with 2-3 months. Could just be an oversight by the bank system OP - see what happens as James indicated.

I opened about 3 or 4 in a week and closed 2 or 3 with in the next week just because I didn't need the accounts anymore.

Not a lot of money went through only a couple of hundred for each account but on the letter the bank said it was due to a risk of fraud which I was not doing but because I opened a few quickly and then closed them I can understand where their coming from.

I don't really need to bank with them I already have 5 stealth accounts Im a curious fella and I was just curious to see if I would be accepted and I was like I got an email today to say my welcome pack is on it's way and I'll have separate PIN number in the post.

I will create an account make a small sale and see what happens and just leave the money in for a few months if it works then I have another back up account and it's all about the backups

Banks dont like it when you open and close savings accounts to fast, because it costs them money to do so.
It also affects your credit file having open and closed accounts in a short time.

So if i were you, if it does by some miracle stay open, then i would take it alot easier on the account.

Slow way way down on the speed at which you are opening and closing accounts. Think months and years not days and weeks

You will end up running into the same issues with other banks otherwise

Savings accounts have no impact on credit files, only Current accounts do.

I go through about 20 online savers each month with Lloyds Bank and have done so for the last 2-3 years. They have never questioned it so it may be worth going with them.

You have a profile with the bank comprising all your vitals, name (including historic), address (including historic), DOB, NI number (if you ever provided). When you apply for an account online or in person these details are matched and the accounts are all pulled under one profile.

Profiles remain for a good number of years (it’s something like 10+years) after all accounts have been closed.

I would hazard a guess that all the details do not exactly match those given originally. I guess it could also be possible that they forgot to put a flag on your profile preventing new accounts. It’s also possible they forgot to put any notes on your profile but that’s hugely unlikely.

If on your online banking you can see your old accounts (closed recently should still show) I wouldn’t put any trust in a new account. It may live for now but as soon as someone has a look (and let’s face it they are bound to look when you have money in there) you will get slapped with a security stop.

Wow... That is a lot to go through

It may not effect your credit rating, but the bank may have an issue with it. I am amazed that they have not already brought it up with you
