Default How to withdraw money from purchased ebay/paypal account?

I bought a paypal/ebay account combo with a name like "Joseph Whitman" on the accounts(Not even close to my name), so I made a subaccount in my bank (It's a big bank), changed the nickname on the account to "Joseph Whitman" and attached it to paypal (Paypal made its trial deposits for verification). I thought everything was hunky dory and even though I suspected there might be fraud concerns with this, I think everyone thought I was being overly paranoid last time I recall.

Well, just this week (About two weeks after making the deposits), I received a letter from my bank that goes...

"To ensure we have all signatures on the account, please complete the application.

Important: We need these signatures to help with fraud detection and protect your account. If you continue using this account without sending us your signed application, you are agreeing you will be responsible for all deposits, checks, or withdrawals made to or from this account by any person designated as an authorized signer and whose signature we do not have on file".

The application only has room my signature, no where does it ask of Joseph Whitman's signature. But, I obviously got this letter because paypal made trial deposits in the name of Joseph Whitman just two weeks later.

Can I use this paypal to send/deposit money to the nicknamed Joseph Whitman subaccount (I haven't yet), or would this be highly risky? (I'm not sure if I should be asking about riskiness here...) If this is highly ill-advised like I'm suspecting it is, what viable not-as-legally-risky alternatives do I have for retrieving money from the Joseph Whitman ebay/paypal account I purchased from here?

I'm selling a legitimate product, I just got booted last year because of one of ebay's oh-so-trivial rules last year. (That I wouldn't have been affected by with this year's rules.) I want to make sure I'm going about this legally and apparently being under my bank's 'fraud radar' doesn't make it seem like it is.

First, which bank? also, you might have messed up by changing the nickname to the stealth name.

Its a known fact that some banks have an issue with mismatching names making deposits - and that others do not.
Why dont you share with us what bank it is youre using and we can tell you if its safe or not to use it. Without giving us information there is no way to answer your question.
Assuming this is a bank that DOES have an issue with mismatching names I would recommend dumping the bank account and opening accounts with another bank that wont have an issue with those deposits.

It's wells fargo. And, you're not supposed to change the nickname to the stealth name? Like they're OK with a 'joseph whitman' deposit going to my "David Matthews" account?

yes that's what I thought, why change the bank account name since you can withdraw from paypal to ANY bank account whatever the name.

Stop generalizing.

Not all banks accept what you are saying.

The OP is from the US and banks are different from yours in Portugal.

Wells Fargo was known to cause some issues in the past but maybe, they have opened a bit more to name mismatching deposits

When you say nickname , your referring to a name you can give to your bank accounts correct?

If so that name would not have any afffect on the deposits in refrence to mismatching names. The nickname is just for your personal use to distinguish each bank account, for instance you could call accounts ending in 8094, 8095, and 8096 STEALTH1, Stealth2, Stealth3 , the nicknames are for you to distinguish your own bank accounts if you like but have nothing to do with the account owner names.

Since you have just opened the account, the signature may be standard procedure and its just a coincidence that you received the signature card after getting the paypal deposits.

I have no experieence with wells fargo, however most big banks accept deposits in mismatched names, One bank i use is BOA, and and as i mentioned i nicknamed my 3 bank accounts using my paypal email, but that is for my personal use for distinguishing accounts and had nothing to do with the account holder name which is my real name for all 3 accounts regardless of whatever nickname i give each account and deposits come in my stealth name which is different than my real, which is ok

Also any information the bank requests like the signature card, which i think is just standard for a new account, always use your real details

my question is...how can you add a bank account/ withdraw money from a stealth account without an SSN? So you have the SSN? OR a TIN?

Add the Bank Account
Verify the Bank Account
Withdraw the money to the Bank Account

What could be simpler?

I have two checking and two savings accounts with Wells Fargo I haven't had any issues at all. They are both business accounts. I've never had issues like the ones you're having.

I currently have no issues transferring money from my stealth to my Wells Fargo "personal " checking bank account. I currently just linked my savings account to a new stealth PayPal and just sent a 1k transfer over to it. I'm waiting for it to finalize. Hopefully there are no issues. I will update on how it goes having two stealth names being used on one checking and one savings account.

So I have two questions if you have a used your bank log in once to "automatically" verify the PayPal on one stealth, is it safe to use your login information again to verify a different bank account, say your savings?

Second question. Is what amount is safe to withdraw. I just sent a $999 withdrawal to my savings for the first time from a new stealth for the first time. I would've like to withdraw the full $2600 that I had but didnt. Any advice on that?

think he is tripping on the signature request banks want when opening a new account ..
OP NEVER lie to the bank or put any false info into your bank .. you sign your name the stealth nickname you added can be from rent from that person better to name it prop rent 1 prop 2 apt rent 1 looks better if you must add a nickname , but may be better to jsut make you a sheet that say account 8988 = joe 9947 terry and leave the bank alone ..

I'm hoping that's what it is. I've always opened bank accounts at a physical bank in the past, but I opened this account online at the same bank and this is the first time I've seen this particular form. What's odd is that the first account I opened online didn't have this particular form sent to me, but now it is with the second account I've made?

I also used this account for an etsy account, and they made their trial deposits just like paypal, but this time Wells Fargo seems like it freaked out; then again, maybe it's a new practice they've adopted in the last month? I wonder if they treat Etsy deposits differently(?) - I noticed the digits in the routing number were reversed on the bank statement, unlike the paypal deposit's routing numbers which stayed the same as the routing number I gave them. Wells Fargo is headquartered in NYC just like Etsy is, so I'm thinking they have some kind of information sharing going on as far as identifying account owners? I noticed that Etsy stopped sending emails right after the trial deposits, which is odd. In the four other etsy accounts I've opened (Same bank account for all four), they never stopped sending emails, regardless of account inactivity. I haven't used the account because I've learned in the past to "heed the warnings", and these (This letter from wells fargo, etsy stopped sending of emails right after the deposits, reversed routing number on the deposit) collectively seem like warnings.

I would just go slow keep the incoming deposits below 500 and leave the money in the bank little bit .Dont just have it coming in and going back out . Just try to avoid any red flags for awhile . Best of luck to you
