I am leaning towards getting a prepaid phone for each account but what carriers allow you to keep service active without paying a monthly fee for each line? I think Verizon has a strictly pay for what you use plan but what about the virgin mobiles, etc? Tracfone looks similar in that their minutes expire? Any info is appreciated.

Virgin mobile used to have the service of use certain minutes for 90 days but they dont have that anymore.

eBay sends verification codes from actual 10 digit phone numbers.

PayPal uses "premium" SMS which is only a six digit phone number. So any service you choose to use make sure it is compatible with premium SMS.

Some prepaid phone companies are incompatible with this service too so just be aware.

Tracfone. Buy one for $3 on amazon. Brand new comes with 20 minutes in credits and 60 days of service. After that you can reload it with $20 and that gives you 60 minutes and 90 days of service. I use Tracfone and GSM call forward to my cellphone. I actually have a bunch of Tracfones forwarding to my cellphone.

ive had problems with google voice before, when I linked the GV to my real phone, then when I need to verify the "text" from EB or PP etc. it won't come through the GV link.
