Activity: 0% Longevity: 76% | | How long do you KEEP your disposable phone for stealth Tel # ?
Most of us get a phone like TracPhone then get the free 10 min to verify Tel # for Stealth purposes, then it's a done deal and we no longer keep the phone.
BUT, long-term wise, if you are asked a few months later to Verify the same Tel # again (by PayPal, for instance), then you get screwed because you NO Longer have the exact same Tel #.
- For TracPhone, you only get to keep the same Tel # for 3 months, then its automatically recycled and not owned by your contract unless you keep paying. Basically its to prevent someone from buying the TracPhone, never paying to re-up the minutes and keeping the same Tel # .
So my question is, how long do you guys keep the same Stealth Tel # ?
Additionally, if PayPal asks you to Verify (at a later date, even after the initial verification a few months down the line...) then does the "4 Digit Code" stupid text thing that PayPal sends show up on a Google Voice linked cell # ?

I always keep the stealth tel # - 2 reasons primarily: 1. in case of call, it's good business to have and 2. allows me to KEEP the number and no one else gets it by accident or so.
There have been issues with the verification later on requiring a landline...

Personally, I use payg sim cards and I destroy them as soon as my stealth accounts are setup - as in 1 minute after I make the accounts.
I do this because I want nothing to link me to any stealthing and the filth can use the sim card and look at what history has been on there and see paypal and ebay calls etc.
Each to their own and I never get call from ebay or paypal as I spread my eggs big time and have low sales on many accounts so am well off the radar and make at least £3g / week.
Happy days.

I'm with Rsot on this one....
You should always have an accessible and active stealth contact number, although I suppose its personal preference and many I'm sure can testify to "going along find without the number afterwards" to me it just makes common sense and good business practice to keep the number and have it associated to you.
If a number is recycled and is used by someone who then get banned? Wouldn't this potentially also create the issue for you?
Besides, most of the time the PAYG sims are so cheap to run nowadays its pointless throwing them away.

So If you get a tracphone should you keep putting minutes every month to keep the number?

^basically yes, you need to re-up the minutes and buy the plan for 1 month and keep re-newing it... otherwise after 3 months (or 90 days) you lose the Tel # and it gets available for another customer.
same thing happened with my GoPhone, i forgot about it and didn't renew the minutes.. then i could no longer use it and lost the original Tel # i had .

Considering that ebay will put a limit on the account for FALSE INFORMATION if there is no phone number I am never going to risk one account.
I do not take half measures with stealth.

I have an active phone on all active ebay/pp accounts.
I kept them charged and noted on the back who that phone belongs to etc.
I have a bank of plugs along a wall with phones galore plugged in and out.
I have a system to change phones in one tote to a new set each morning so I keep a rotation of charging phones so no phone goes dead.

Not sure if google voice can still be used, but google usually just emails you if your phone is about to expire and you just make one phone call that will extend it for another year I think.

I start the accounts off with either send hub, text me, text + app and once it is built up ill get trac phone or a SIM card , so far so good in a years time
It's always best to have a dedicated line but I think of the freeVOIP like a VBA , and just like u wait to see if the account is good to add a real bank account it's the same thinking with the phone

Great ideas on this tread. All these time I've only used gvoice and sendhub to verify and call them.
Was thinking about linking all my numbers to talkatone so I get all my gvoice calls. Without having to buy tracphones. What you think?

I'm in the UK
Just got a pay-as-you-go simcard.
Now I need (cheap)dedicated phone to go along with it.
It makes sense to keep that number alive for the duration of the account.
Perhaps, in time, creating stealth accounts become so easy that one doesn't bother. I would want to keep my account as long as possible - the longer the better.
Over time people do change phone numbers though, so, don't see why it would be a problem to just tell ebay/pp that the (old) number doesn't work because one's got a new one?
What about the call forwarding options mentioned in the manual?

Can someone provide examples in which paying for an active phone number for each stealth account is an advantage? -- Besides the fact that you eliminate the risk of the number getting recycled to someone else who uses it for ebay.
I ask this because I paid to keep a tracfone active, but paypal still could not verify it when they asked to call me to confirm the number is mine. So it ended up being pointless.
I just want this put in perspective for me… I wanna know why the best of the best on these message boards keep active phones? What are some examples of times this really comes in handy?

On my older stealth accounts I have a tracfone family plan. I always mess up and don't check em for months and have to update them etc. But yea, I always agree with having an active phone. I know some people that use a prepaid phone for like a year then when the account is established they switch over to a cheaper option.
From my experience, the name of the game for eBay is establishing trust with eBay. Then you can get away with other things regarding phone number etc.
