| | | | | Slimjim | 04-01-2014 02:15 AM | One Way I Passed Ebay Phone Verification I managed to pass the Ebay phone verification and I thought I'd share how in hopes it might help someone else. First off, this is not a method that will work every time for reasons that will be obvious. But it can be used more than once in certain situations. I used my real name when I made my legitimate account years ago. For my first stealth account I used my real last name and my real first name with a letter missing. For the sake of clarity, let's say my real name was Jeff Rogers, and for my stealth account I spelled it as Jef Rogers.
Eventually I got the MC999 email asking to call and verify my info. I called and told her my name was Jef Rogers, simply hoping that she wouldn't go the public records route. She did unfortunately and she obviously couldn't find my name. She told me that because she couldn't find me, I'd have to call back in 4 days after my account had reached 30 days. Why the hell that was I don't know, still doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe someone can fill me in.
So I decided to call back the next day and here's what I did. I gave the next girl the same Jef Rogers. When she told me she was going to do the pubic records search, I said "Oh, if you're going to look at public records, you'll have to use Jeff with two F's, otherwise you won't find me. That's my legal name, but I always go by Jef with one F." And she did, which led to her asking me public records questions about the real me. Verified with no problem.
When I called for the second account (⊗⊗⊗⊗ name) and the girl said she was going to do public records questions, I said "Oh ****! My pig just bit my daughter! I gotta go!" and hung up the phone. Called back the next day and was lucky enough to get a guy who just asked me general questions about what I was planning to do with the account. And I do actually have a small pig and a daughter, so it wasn't a complete lie.
Hope that might be of some help to someone. |
Re: One Way I Passed Ebay Phone Verification It is a good point to aim for a better agent when one gives you troubles.
Smartly done - congratz |
| Slimjim | 04-01-2014 03:39 PM | Re: One Way I Passed Ebay Phone Verification Thanks, rsot. The impression I get is that they're not taking any notes about the phone call, so hanging up and calling back later doesn't seem to cause want problems. I think the most important thing though is to not be afraid of them. |
Re: One Way I Passed Ebay Phone Verification Some take notes, some don't but always better to retry with a more understanding agent - yes...no fear! |

| GreenBean | 04-15-2014 06:12 PM | Re: One Way I Passed Ebay Phone Verification That may have worked for you.
It is not the wisest approach.
Other users will end up in strife trying your method.
Calls ARE logged by ebay/paypal.
All a user needs is one NOSEY agent to dig deeper and look over the account.
That has, and that does happen.
End result is not nice. |
| Slimjim | 04-17-2014 04:22 PM | Re: One Way I Passed Ebay Phone Verification Yes, it did work for me. That's why I'm sharing the information. I haven't had any issues so far, but I'll certainly update everyone if it ends up causing a problem.
And yes, they do log calls. Outside of repeatedly hanging up and calling back, how would that cause a problem in thus situation?
How do you know other users will end up in strife by trying this? |

It's simply a warning.

On the topic whenever I get the database questions they always tell me I need to send in docs and never give me the option to call back. I must be getting unlucky on who picks up the phone on their end.:s |

I have friends in the USA that breed mini pigs.
If you have young kids, they are great for letting them get used to animals.
:ranger: |
| Slimjim | 08-23-2014 07:45 PM | Re: One Way I Passed Ebay Phone Verification Yeah, we got them from a breeder in Texas. They had to fly on a plane to get to here in California. So yes everyone, pigs do fly.
And you're right, my girlfriend got the first one for her daughter who was 6 at the time and she still thinks she's the greatest thing in the world. They're incredibly smart and have the emotional capacity of about a three year-old human, which is actually very significant for an animal. |

Im confused, you said that the first lady couldn't find "Jef" in public records and told you to call back after 30 days. So after you waited 30 days you called again, told the ebay rep to search "Jef" with two f's instead of one and you passed the public records test.
Then you said "When I called for the second account (⊗⊗⊗⊗ name)..."
If you passed the public records test why did you have to call again?
Did you get MC999 on both you real and stealth account?
Did both accounts get suspended or was it only the stealth account? |
| Dmshark25 | 09-02-2014 11:02 AM | Re: One Way I Passed Ebay Phone Verification This is not a template for passing this type of verification, and just something that has worked with this member
But it is messy with many potentials for disaster , so I wouldn't get to hung up on this technique |
| Slimjim | 09-05-2014 10:10 PM | Re: One Way I Passed Ebay Phone Verification Hi Jason. Sorry for the delay in responding. I've been horribly depressed the past few days. I think you just read the post a little too quickly and missed a few things, but I'm happy to clarify it for you. I have two stealth accounts. I passed the public records test for one of my two stealth accounts (the "Jef" account). I had to call again for the other account.
Both stealth accounts just got the standard MC999 so I had to call. They were both only temporarily suspended when they dropped the standard MC(999) Hammer on them. My real account was indefinitely (permanently) suspended from selling in one particular category last year. But that category was my bread and butter so it ****ed me. The calls I referred to in the post were completely unrelated to that account. Just my two stealth accounts. Make sense? |
