Best virtual number?
 

I have a question I am signing up for a PayPal account. I was wondering what would be the best virtual landline number to use for PayPal. I currently don't have the funds to purchase a verizon tracfone at the local walmart. I was just wondering if there was a free online way to get a number that can help with confirming mobile and the confirm identity option... Can anyone please link me thanks :)

Google voice doesn't work I heard it is terrible and I tried it and it gave me an error.

You can also use TextPlus on your mobile fone to get the 4 digit code to make your EBay selling account

Sorry about that thought you where asking about eBay. Also for Paypal you don't need the fone for setup,well at least I never do

For new accounts PayPal now requires to call or text you to send money the first time. I use Burner app for iPhone, You can make phone numbers and burn them when not needed. They cost about $1.50 or so. You can get 25 credits for $12 bucks. Each number will cost you 3 credits . It works great for receiving phone calls

Used to be that ebay/paypal accounts got made with a working phone number.

Never had phone hassles either

No I am talking about confirming identity. When they have an automated machine send a 4 digit code to your phone and you have to type it in and its for paypal not ebay

When I make an account I attach a working phone from the start.

There is an active phone ready for anything.

There has never been a good service to confirm identity, I mean think of what they are trying to do "confirm identity or location" you think google voice can do that for them or burner or any other service. People get confused on what phone is for what and they think I have a paypal burner number and my acct is fine but this is something different and honestly i have never seen a good answer to this

Account creation has nothing to do with dealing with limitations and security issues with paypals with a bad pulse. What you said is exactly what I was saying above people just keep saying tracfone or burner and that is just not the answer and in these situations bad advise. Honestly if you get to this point and need this your paypal is probably shot anyway

@OP - Search Tracfone on the forum. I've written about it a bunch. Basically $3 on Amazon. Comes with 20 free minutes and 60 days of service. That's plenty to get PP and EB accounts up and verified.

Explain how you confirm location or identity with an anyone can get phone not attached to a verifiable person or address? Again tracfone is perfect for account creation but not limitations or security issues on shaky accounts

this is such a worn out topic between us.

Users who have phones attached to their ebay/paypal accounts from the start, are rarely reporting the issues you report.

Users who maintain an active & working phone number are rarely reporting the issues you mention.

If I deciphered your statement correctly. PayPal uses CC to verify location because CC companies use zip code verification. The phone number has nothing to do with it. And Tracfone IS perfect because you can GSM call forward (google it) to your main cell phone. I have a bunch of Tracfones forwarding to my actual cellphone.

As for the minutes use the "call me now" function for paypal and EB so that it doesn't waste your minutes and actually this verifies to them that your number is legit. If you don't find the call me now function in the help topic you want on ebay just keep looking. The wrong ebay rep will call you but they'll transfer you to the one you need.

Again your talking about normal phone use on pp and ebay, but this is about pp limitations or security issues and has nothing to do with account creation or putting a vcc on an account

Again, like I said you can have them call your tracfone and it will forward to your cellphone.

You did say tracfone again. Tracfone is good for acct creation normal account usage. Tracfone does not work for confirm location and confirm identity and your helping tracfones company with the promo but not the stealthers who need a service to confirm location or confirm identity
