Those white express mail USPS Tyvek bags, you can turn those inside out. They print on the inside of the Priority ones, but not the inside of the express ones.

i dont understand how USPS works. it seems like the cheapest mailing services from them is the priority mail start from 4.9us sth in domestic. is there any cheaper standard mailing services from them? anyone use stamps.com or endicia.com?
my friends in us helps me mail parcels everyday and i am trying to find a cheaper way to post.
thanks for all the suggestions.

I use U-Line. ULINE - Cardboard Boxes, Shipping Supplies, Packaging Materials, Plastic Bags

Cheap, Fast shipments and they "Have it All"

digitalslave 07-18-2010 02:50 PM

Yes, yes turning the USPS boxes inside out... I went hog wild a few years ago and stockpiled them, glad I did. Now of course they are printed on the inside.
But as a couple posters already suggested, simply cover them with brown packing paper.yuk yuk!:heh:

They sell brown/white paper wherever they sell shipping supplies to cover boxes if you need to. You can also use paper grocery bags, and those are free. Just ask for paper next time you go grocery shopping. :thumb:

waay too much trouble...

you can ship parcel mail it the item is a package, but it is slow....if item is under 13 oz. you can ship first class mail, that would be cheaper then priority.
all in all, i think priority mail is a good value.

Needless to say, it did not come in good condition and I was pissed.

i was watching "myth busters" and there was an episode where they shipped a coconut, and just put the stamps right onto the coconut! and it actually got delivered! so i guess you can ship anything without a box as long as postage is affixed

I sell small items and I try to be creative. I use free boxes as much as I can like cereal box, popcorn, poptarts, cake mix box, anything, you name it.... Then I use paper bags from the store, turn it inside out and use to cover it... Everything is recyclable :)

Over the years I have found that doing stuff like that can affect your Complaint Ratio, Feedback and DSR's, Buyers LOVE when the get a professionally Packed purchase, complete with Bill of Sale and Other offers/Coupons/Website Links or Some type of Flyer, It Simply looks more Genuine and Professional, Buyers it seems tend to Scrutinize the Purchase Less.

jbcbjb 07-18-2010 04:48 PM

I never have a problem so far, been doing for 6 months.. DRS's and feedback is 250 100%. I sell used items from .99cents to $5.00 per piece. (Since DHL seized all of my 5 packages, still waiting for reshipment) Other items of course I use sturdy boxes from royalmailers, usps boxes or bubble mailers from ebay..

But thanks for the heads up, I will let you know If get complains. Hopefully not :)

Well I did say "It Can Affect" I mean it also Depends an awful lot on What exactly you are selling and How you are representing Youself, as a Professional Business, or an Individual just selling a few Items around the house

I was Rereading this thread and I realized that there are a LOT Of CheapSkates on this Thread.

I would recommend Uline, I purchase my supplies from them regularly. They offer cheap and affordable prices for packaging. I recommend for people to look for deals before purchasing, they usually put few items on clearance regularly.

rock45 07-19-2010 06:32 AM

i ordered from Uline finally. they dont accept paypal but they have a good price. they also offer me 20% off on the shipment

forummember 07-19-2010 08:06 AM

Funnily enough I get mine from eBay.

waterproof 07-19-2010 06:28 PM

Ditto! Somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 to 8 cents per bubble envelope! Can't beat it unless you rob a store.

I 4th Uline.com

The best hands down. But slickjane that is pretty slick turning The Terek express bags inside out. then you can just ship it parcel with tracking for a fraction.

newtools 08-07-2010 11:43 PM

another thought. I have gone to dollar stores and asked if I can take there empty boxes. there free.

jbluntz 08-08-2010 12:06 AM

VALUEMAILERS on ebay for me, I do mostly high volume small stuff under 13oz so I go through alot of poly mailers and stuff up alot of USPS mail shoots and the next best thing to a poly malier is priority flat rate envelopes and small flat rate boxes which is free of course as well as all the newspaper in the recycle bin next to my mailbox.

I've been shipping small stuff for so long, I've got a couple turntables on ebay right now and I'm completly lost at how to pack it or where to find the right size box can't imagine going through that every day, talk about work.

MadSam 08-10-2010 08:46 AM

The post office 3 for $1.

aking 08-10-2010 09:27 AM

i use n state packaging.

rsot 08-10-2010 10:59 AM

You try Costco Jbuntz? They have boxes of all sizes - you just stuff your groceries (if you buy) into them or make a stash adn dash.

Yes, but with the free USPS boxes you have to ship it PRIORITY MAIL. Priority = expensive. I get my boxes from USPS too but I flip them inside out so it doesn't say Priority on it and thus I can ship it whichever method I want. I save about $5 in shipping costs per order which adds up very quickly and this has saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the years. Also, I ship my stuff Media Mail. I am very lucky that my post office does not care and allows it. Occasionally I ship Parcel Post. OCCASIONALLY (it is RARE) a buyer will complain that you charged too much for shipping and shipped it via Media Mail. If this happens I simply apologize, say I made a mistake, and refund him whatever the difference in shipping costs would be.
