Chinese new year + shipping

How long is this chinese new year ? Because I'm about to go APE on my supplier! I swear I'm going to be upset with this this person out!!!

I was reading on google that it takes 15 days??? 15 day holiday??? Well he has a few days left to answer the dispute.. Matter of fact, I don't even think he read the dispute yet because when I chat with him... He says "3-5 please wait friend"

Welp I ordered on the 31st and that tracking number is still there...

tmac122 01-05-2011 09:19 AM

I had a package mailed on 12/13 - and I still have not received it. I was promised I'd get it by Christmas, and now its well after the new year and still nothing! The latest info on the tracking says "dispatch from china"..

cardfelon 01-05-2011 09:25 AM

Bang
There are many holidays in China that last for several days and a few are a week long. I suggest to avoid this problem in the future that you google it and get a list of all of their holidays so you can order ahead of time without any delay. Right now nothing is coming out of China. Just be patient.

HurricaneHuntr 01-05-2011 10:09 AM

afaik... there is no holidays in china right now, dhgate tells you when there is. My 1 good friendly supplier has been flaky lately, so i went to my other slightly more expensive supplier. He ships dhl when i order a lot, which i like ^^

Bang 01-05-2011 10:49 AM

Chinese new year ends on the 15th of Jan. Too long for me lol

teedon 01-05-2011 10:52 AM

usually the peroid is from 26th jan to 13th Feb for chinese holiday.

fdafdafda 01-05-2011 01:18 PM

I'm glad it's not just me stressed out about not having product to sell. Thanks for the info on the long holidays...I better save up all my cash to make some major purchases before too long. I don't want to be stuck without product here in a month

cardfelon 01-05-2011 01:52 PM

If I remember correctly there is a big holiday next month when there is no shipping for a week.

HurricaneHuntr 01-05-2011 08:07 PM

3 days ago i ordered a dhl, still doesn't show up in the system, seller says its shipped though, never has lied before. dunno whats going on

Here We Go Again 01-05-2011 08:28 PM

Usually if your DhGate seller provides you with a DHL tracking number that starts with a 6 then that is not your "real" number.
It is one the sellers use to make DhGate happy.
ALL of my packages that are shipped to me via DHL from China starts with a 8

My sellers usually update my "6" number with the "8" number.
This update usually takes about 2-4 days.

iandy3g 01-05-2011 11:09 PM

It's not a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ number. DHL has a very unique "tracking number" system. The seller gets a "shippers reference" number when they ship the item but that is NOT a Waybill number. The waybill number is not generated until it goes to the export hub for some reason with DHL.

You can track your Waybill number (2-4 days after shipping) on DHL.com
You can only track this "shippers reference" number on this link DHL | Track by Shipper's Reference | English

Most sellers will give you this "Shippers Reference" number and then update you with the Waybill number a few days later. I've never used DHgate but I've been shipping DHL for years.

teedon 01-06-2011 02:52 AM

You can not tracking it because it have not been handed over to dhl ,it need to take time for tranfer the goods from shipping agent to DHL.

But if your supplier send the goods via DHL directly, you can tracking it on same day

For starters, you are posting on an OPEN FORUM, not some bar somewhere.
Can the attitude & threats. You sound dumb.

Chinese New Year starts in February this year.

You might be refering to an interruption to service which is reasonably common for the usual Christmas-New Year. Happens everywhere. Ergo an order dated 31st December has hardly had time to be shipped. If you are without goods, then you should make sure for new holidays to have the stock in hand. Plan your business better & lighten up Matter of fact, you have not checked info correctly yourself:shhh:

teedon 01-06-2011 03:58 AM

Greenbean is right, but after 1 or 2 weeks, many factories will be closed. The workers need to go hometown ealier and want to see family quickly after working hard for 1 year.

jbluntz 01-06-2011 04:05 AM

So I guess the deadline for ordering from China would be say Jan. 23th? Since the holiday starts the 26th gives yourself about 3 days to have it shipped I would guess.

GreenBean 01-06-2011 04:47 AM

truthfully, I'd have it done by the 18th. That covers problems if it starts in January . Problem I have is that the Year of the Rabbit does not start until 3rd Feb.2011: my HongKong supplier is not going to be around after 31 Jan.2011. I know for a fact he is taking the family to mainland China as a special celebration. Suggest checking the dates carefully. :boink:

jbluntz 01-06-2011 04:56 AM

The 18th it is then sounds good enough to me, not like I'm that short on stock anyway but always good to have a nice round figure to mark on your calender.

Thanks for the info GB I somehow completely forgot about the Chinese holidays, I'm pretty well stocked up currently but I'm not taking any chances will make another big order today. Thanks for the reminder guys.

HurricaneHuntr 01-06-2011 10:15 AM

1 Shipment picked up ZHEJIANG PROVINCE - CHINA, PEOPLES REPUBLIC xxxxx

Hide Details

sounds like if all goes well another monday delivery, kinda annoying since i ordered on monday. And the # never changed, stayed the same.So i think they ship directly. Just do not ship right away if stock isnt on hand i am guessing... Since i deal with a china supplier who buys from another supplier, i guess gotta wait sometimes

Frustrated: defeated: disappointingly unsuccessful; "disappointed expectations and thwarted ambitions"
I pay item > Item not shipped > frustrated.

GreenBean 01-06-2011 05:19 PM

Oh,Bang! You are speaking to the converted.
Seriously I used be the type that wanted to go 'postal' with glitches. It's part of learning to do ecommerce. For sure it's frustrating. If there's simple planing, then the chances {of frustration} are possibily reduced.

That first lesson is always the one that suxs. ((((Bang))) xxx :peace:

Lol thanks GB you're right :)

I am freaking out to. My package said that it left the shipping center on jan 6th. All my previous shipments have hit stateside within 2 days give or take a few hours. Yet it is 4 days later and nothing has happened. I got shipped via EMS btw. So is there definitely a chinese holiday that is backing things up?

loveinserts 01-10-2011 11:12 PM

Teedon is right about chinese new year holidays!!!
Please allow a few more days to arrive when you purchase during that period of date.

mycrowman 01-31-2011 01:26 PM

I just want to let you guys know for future ref, I was able to place an order on 1/25 and the items arrived today via, DHL.

Good suppliers, I hope they enjoy their holiday

rsot 01-31-2011 02:29 PM

Apparently, factories and all that stuff closed as of Jan. 27th or so.

cardfelon 01-31-2011 02:56 PM

Most factories did close. I have one supplier that is going right now but will only ship by EMS.

Bang 02-02-2011 12:09 PM

My suplier is closed too.. He said he MAY be able to ship on the 6th but he will be shipping starting 11th. Augh I hate being new to this llol

Red X 02-02-2011 12:26 PM

Feb 2nd to Feb 10th

cardfelon 02-02-2011 02:09 PM

I had two packages leave Hong Kong today via DHL. But the orders were placed back on Jan 23. I thought they had already left.

I FEEL sorry for your CHINESE supplier. I would HATE having a nagging customer like you. Your supplier probably works 6 times a week, working at minimum wage for $2 - $3 an hour, and your complaining,,,,They DESERVE a holiday....

Just REMEMBER, not to send catpoop to your supplier...

glh1309 02-09-2011 10:06 AM

How's this for EMS speed:

Inbound International Arrival, February 07, 2011, 11:53 pm, ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)
Foreign International Dispatch, December 18, 2010, 12:38 am, GUANGZHOU EMS, CHINA PEOPLES REP
Origin Post is Preparing Shipment
Foreign Acceptance, December 17, 2010, 2:49 pm

rsot 02-09-2011 10:53 AM

EMs was particularly bad during holiday season for you - sad to hear.

Red X 02-09-2011 11:48 AM

@teedon, what lol, the workers never have days off? Your statement sounds as if they work 1 year straight, and only see their families during the holidays, if so i would have to escape i'm sorry.

teedon 02-16-2011 09:26 AM

Let me tell you the truth.

They get 1 day off each week but they come from very far place and they cannot afford the ticket fee to go home .

So over 95% factoryies workers will go home during chinese new year holiday.Of cource, they do not like this but they get no choice because they have to make money for their family.

It is very diffcult to earn money at their hometwon to be a farmer,so thousands of workers leave their hometown and go to over 1000 miles to find a job .

So the chinese new year holiday is very important for them, they only can meet their family and their parents and children at this time per year.

I am sure many people outside of china can not bear this but it is the fact.

menaice 02-16-2011 09:29 AM

Its amazing the difference between the US and china, its a huge culture shock, I have placed an order 2 orders both show as shipped and i have tracking 4 days now and nothing showing up with EMS tracking. But back to the culture i would love to be able to make enough monies to be able to go visit there for about a week.

rsot 02-16-2011 09:43 AM

@teedon, good post at explaining how the labour force is done out there. I have long since known this so I understand the delay. It might seem as a long holiday to folx who want their stuff.
