DHL and Clearance Delay
 

I had so many packages sent via DHL for the past year. Usually if I had Clearance Delay after 2 hours it would be released. Problem with my package now it shows clearance delay 2x- Is the package toast? Inside were DVDs.

So you're asking if its toast or are you just telling us that it is toast if it shows that 2x?

If you're asking, I'd say you should just call.

I will give it until tomorrow, if it doesn't clear then its not coming out of customs. I have 9 more packages coming via DHL through out the week. Lets hope and prey they make it my way. :)

Clearance delays can be normal on a Sunday. The problem for you is if your package is opened for inspection.

Assuming that you meant pre-recorded DVD's of movies and box sets (and not blank DVD's) they will be seized if that happens.

Anything up to 24 hours, I would not be too worried about. Anything over 24 hours is a problem.

Thanks Jeff. Like I said I have been importing with DHL for a while now with no problems.

I always tell my supplier to make sure not to have the packages reach USA on Saturday or Sunday but I guess they never listen!

They were box sets so lets hope they don't get opened up. Hopefully someone is lazy on duty to open up the taped up box.

The tape thing - in my personal opinion - does not matter. I have had packages opened that are wrapped in what seems like a few miles of tape. Customs opens, looks, and then just adds another pound of tape to re-seal the package.

You will know if that happens as their tape has "Inspected by US Customs Service" printed on it.

haha. your right! I had that happen in the past. Just spoke with my supplier he said it will

pass customs or they will refund me plus resend it! :)

Just woke and and checked the tracking number and looks like the package is back in CHINA!

I have actually had that happen to me (Last year),,Clearence Delay in Cincinnatti,,,and back to Hong Kong and then back to me in the U.S.,,,I can't Explain it,,

I just talked to my supplier and they said this is the first time this has happened to them.

The weird thing now is I have 9 packages that are going to reach Cincinnati tomorrow and

they all have the same depart date as that package that was in USA and left back to HK.

I did place a trace with DHL and they will give me a call before 12:00PM central time.

Nothing now but prey and hope they arrive. I will keep you guys updates.

So did the package clear the second time around slapped?

Yes it did

Was told it will be arrive to USA again tonight, and tomorrow I should receive it if it clears

customs the 2nd time! Which on Tuesday it does most of the time.

Also want to mention that the package never made it to the USA.

I guess somehow they tried to clear the package without it even touching USA ground.

Anyways, I will keep you guys updated on this matter.

Just got off the phone with DHL, they said as it was a 2 piece package one package

made it and the other one left Hong Kong and should reach the USA tonight.

I asked them about the clearance delay they said so far USA customs has not asked for

any documents. (which might be a good thing) and if I'm lucky it should be release

tonight. That's my latest update on the package.

Just an update: Today I have received 8 packages via DHL (the first tracking I have

posted I believe customs has seized them as I have not received any updates from them.

So 8 out of 10 packages have arrived safely.

this kind of time delay means likely it is gone. You have 80% on this transaction - guess that's good in one way.

That was a sample I gave from a friends tracking that had same issue as my OP post.

My tracking still did not update for the package that did not pass customs.

Like you mentioned rsot 80% is really good. I mean 8 packages came and cleared USA

customs at the same time. 1 package arrives and gets clearance delay. It just depends on

when they send. I would usually recommend Tuesday and Thursday for packages to arrive

to USA. Never had problems on those two days.

You're probably right. I had a package come today.

what does "Non-customs Government agency hold" Mean??
