| | | LoopHole | 05-17-2011 07:45 PM | What label printer do you use? Im still using a regular printer. I am so tired of it. I want to buy a label printer but im not sure which is best. Ive looked into the zebra lp2844 but i see that a lot of people have problems with getting it to work with windows 7. What does everyone else use? |

I figured if they are shipping literally 500 plus packages every single day then they must be doing what is cheaper and most efficient of they wouldnt be doing it. Thats my opinions. Its not just one place either, its several that do this with that kind of volume. I was shocked to see it myself really. |

Yea ive noticed many doing that. But the thing is they spend money on ink/paper. The zebra label printer uses no ink. And i would be getting the roles of paper for free needed for the zebra printer. So basically i would spend 100dollars on the printer and that is it. |

| Here We Go Again | 05-18-2011 01:56 AM | I have a Zebra LP2844 and it runs like a trooper.
Been running it for 3-4 years with NO problems.
As for Windows 7.....
If you download the new & Updated drivers there is NO problems at all.
Do a Google search for Zebra_7.1.9.exe |
| Sell4more2 | 05-18-2011 03:38 PM | Have the same printer as Here We Go Again, and it works great for Windows 7! |
| LoopHole | 05-18-2011 04:07 PM | Thanks for the replies, looks like its time for me to get one too. |
| Red X | 05-18-2011 04:33 PM | If the Zebra printer doesn't use ink, how does it print the labels????
Maybe I should look into this, I usually use a regular printer, print out the labels, and use tape as well. Not to mention I print out the labels 1 by 1, it gets tiring. |

I have to admit, I never considered it. But when I saw HWGA's post, I started looking into it. Labels are cheaper, no toner costs... a no-brainer, since it would pay for itself in a month or two. Of course, that depends on what your volume is. |
| Here We Go Again | 05-18-2011 07:40 PM | That little label printer is one of the 2 best printer investments I have ever made.
The other was my HP LaserJetP3005DN
It holds a full ream of paper (500 sheets) and it used a toner cartridge and now ink.
The label printer uses no ink OR toner.
Between those 2 printers I have saved hundreds on ink and TIME. |
| jeffweico | 05-18-2011 10:02 PM | Just bought one. Zebra LP2844. But the labels it uses cost half of what I am paying now. So, between that savings and the toner saved, it should be a good investment.
I also looked at Dymo, but the reviews were mixed. It would have been a little cheaper, but I thought the savings was not worth taking the risk. |
| mycrowman | 05-19-2011 06:40 AM | I know UPS offers thermal labels, does anyone know what printer these work with? |
| Here We Go Again | 05-19-2011 08:06 AM | The ones from UPS come in MANY different variations.
You can get them for free and you can choose the format they come in. |

| ShadyOne | 05-19-2011 05:06 PM | Haha, some great information here, I too had not thought about buying a label printer before!
I am now... |
Zebra is the way to go best lable printer out there for the money. |

I think Dymo is probably OK too, Jbluntz swears by it. In fact, I think he may be the world's first Dymosexual.
:pound: |
| jbluntz | 05-19-2011 07:04 PM | That's a cute one Jeff haha. If you only saw my Dymo in action you'd know what I'm talking about. I'm sure Zebra's a good one to but not as good as my Dymo ha. |

| LoopHole | 07-19-2011 01:14 PM | Never again will i buy a zebra lp2844 label printer. Ive downloaded 5 different drivers and none of them made it print labels correctly from pp. It printed everything else fine, but when it came to printing labels it just wouldnt work. There were long tracks of missing print and i could not get it to work properly after trying to fix it for 2 weeks. Looks like i will be looking into another label printer. |

It is either the Paypal format or the way it is interacting with Paypal or the way you have the drivers set up. |
| Hercules | 07-19-2011 01:44 PM | ^^^ plus you have to make sure the printer works with your operating system. |

Maybe ive installed too many at once and its causing a problem but i dont think that is it. I think my last option to trying to make this printer work is wiping my system and re installing everything. |

BUT: after about an hour of experimenting and changing some settings, I got everything absolutely Perfect.
If you haven't given up all hope, I could post the settings I used. :) |

At first i thought it was Java, but i reinstalled it plenty of times and it still didnt work. I called zebra to asked them if the printer works with usps/pp labels and they said yeah go download the special driver for it. I did but it still printed with long tracks of missing print. So my only guess as of right now is something it wrong with the options or maybe my comp. |

I would greatly appreciate if you could take screen shots of all the settings you have set up for the printer. Also if you could tell me what driver worked for you. If it works for me i will drive to where ever you are and give you biggest hug! :hail: |
| TGMT² | 07-19-2011 05:30 PM | This should be the driver you are using, it appears to be an updated version from the one I am using. Download File: End User License Agreement
The version above is v2.6.59.04 and the one I am using is v2.6.42
I'll post the settings later. :) |

It really doesn't get any easier and cheaper than PayPal shipping. I also use FedEx ShipRush for the larger packages since they are significantly cheaper than UPS. |

It has to be verified after the installation. Java Downloads for All Operating Systems
Have you actually tried to print a PayPal label with your Zebra Printer?
Did the Java picture of your label show correctly on your screen before you printed? |
| Here We Go Again | 07-19-2011 07:38 PM | There is also a set of drivers for Windows that are for the 64 bit platform.
I can not remember where I got them but it is a version 7.1.9 that I use. |
| biggunn | 07-20-2011 01:27 AM | I'm still doing labels the old school way with some 8 x 11 paper and my trustee tape gun! |
