Remember with some parcels you can't track straight away - some take a few days for information to come up.

The link below tracks loads of companies, including China Air Mail.

17track.net is the most powerful tracking system of registered postal parcel and international express in China!

China Post tracking is notoriously unreliable. Their official site is down for days and often doesn't give results for items.

I used to be able to get results off other sites like the above but recently the only way I can track stuff is to actually go to the post office.

To be honest though it is still fairly useless. The only info that can be seen is the data for the package being tracked from post office, to sorting place, to airport and then the trail dies.

Bought a few things using china mail again - the good thing about China Air Mail is the items never really get stopped or seized!

Just have to wait for longer delivery times.

You can see those information in your local postoffice site after the parcel reached your country. Or check it on http://intmail.183.com.cn/item/trace/itemTrace.jsp

Probably because their policy where everything is meant to be inspected before it is sent by the people in the post office.

They don't let you send anything unless it has been inspected/seen first. Which is a bit of a pain when you have wrapped up a nice birthday pressie ready to be sent and are then told it has to be opened otherwise it can't be sent!

14 days give or take a couple. Pretty much 99% are within 14 days. Small minority is faster.

Unless it is to Italy it would be faster to send stuff there by tying it to a passing pigeon.

I think it can depend on who you get. There used to be a total ruthless barsteward at the office I use and he would just say no to all my things just annoy me sometimes I think!

He has gone I'm glad to say and now the people are a bit more relaxed.

But in answer to your question:
Lighters, even if it is a zippo that is brand new and never used! Gas lighters I understand...but a zippo? Come on...!
Liquids (unless you find a way to hide them in something else
Meat products - Like jerkey etc.

Those three were all for my brothers birthday. I went to the post office with them and then left 2 minutes later still with all of them! I managed to send the bottle of spirits and lighter to him later by hiding them in some cushion covers I got my Mum though

Batteries of any kind
Glass ware and crockery items.

Those are the things I have experience in not being allowed to send. I'm sure there's more.

Do not worry, as others have said the tracking can be very unreliable. In fact, it is so unreliable that I do not pay the extra charge for "registered airmail" over the regular airmail any longer. I had an item that I ordered ealier this year, and even now its tracking has not updated (it still has "ARRIVAL AT TRANSIT OFFICE OF EXCHANGE" as its status, which should mean that it has no even left China yet...). It arrived long ago though.

Actually - cos you are in the US you are in the very lucky position of being able to use the USPS website to track your item once it has arrived! I think the US is the only country in the world to actually use the tracking properly!

Give it a week or so from posting date and it should be in the US-from there you should be able to track it.

How long has it been? Give them a go!
