| | | golden_monkey | 10-18-2012 01:47 PM | Global Shipping Program So i get a little prompt today about this new Global Shipping Program.
I read about it and it seems like its pretty badass.
you ship to a shipping center, they handle customs and the international shipping end of it.
and you only pay domestic shipping?
am I reading this right? cause it really seems GREAT. |
| golden_monkey | 10-18-2012 02:32 PM | ok it appears to be as good as im thinking it is.
im testing it out with all future listings so we'll see how it works and if it actually gets more eyeballs on my listings. |
| JJGold | 10-18-2012 02:36 PM | Do you have a link? |
| golden_monkey | 10-18-2012 03:28 PM | im guessing its invite only or something.. i just tried to get the wife hooked up on it and I came up blank.
search on e-ay for it or online. |
| slim jim | 10-18-2012 03:30 PM | |
| golden_monkey | 10-18-2012 06:21 PM | kinda feels like we have a more level playing field with those chinese epacket sellers.
if so... watch out... im coming for you more then I already am. :croc:
im giving it a shot... i'll post back my results. |
| yotano211 | 10-18-2012 06:50 PM | I just read the arictle in the link, thanks slim jim.
My biggest issue with the whole thing is this statement, "Sellers opting in to the Global Shipping Program have no control over the shipping service or cost for the international leg of the shipment.
Sorry but I am making a full time living with this and I want full control in how I ship things overseas.
And plus you will have more 3rd party people touching your packages. I prefer only people that work with the postal system in any country handling my packages. At least I think, they have a better hiring service than most private companies.
I will fully opt out of this program, even if it costs less than using USPS. I am fine now and why change my ways. |
| golden_monkey | 10-18-2012 08:13 PM | the international leg is also paid for by the buyer not you, you are only on the hook for the domestic... which is also paid by the buyer.
so its as easy as shipping to anywhere in the USA... with better tracking. As it stands now overseas tracking is done with a blindfold.
pack, ship, pray.
if these guys can cut better overseas rates, great go for it. overseas shipping is pricey if they have some kinda deal and can save everyone on both sides of the table money I say why not. Once it gets to the US destination im off the hook.. i've kept my end of the deal and they state that. If it gets lost damaged or whatever.... im refunded.
Like i said.. im TESTING, let you know how good/bad/ sales/up/down ... stay tuned. :pop2: |
| slim jim | 10-18-2012 08:20 PM | i wonder how this will work. what if the shipping center screws something up and sends the wrong package somewhere, when i get left bad feedback what will happen? |

If buyers dont want to pay for the more expensive international tracking then I dont ship. Only country in the world I do 1st international shipping is to Japan.
But keep us posted on your results. I would love to know them. |
So - eb is kind of doing a fulfillment service like Az? Yes, other people handling your packages is kind of a no no for f*ke item sellers...or bigtime pricey items |
| yotano211 | 10-19-2012 02:05 PM | The items dont have to be f*ke or high price, to me just it means more unqualified people handling the package.
When DHL was operating in the US, on 5 occasions in 1 year I had the package opened and nothing in it. DHL now contracts all shipments within the US to 3rd party delivery people or USPS (I think). i rather have usps than dhl. |

| AmazonStealth | 10-24-2012 11:51 PM | This is intended for China Wholesalers. eBay loves china wholesalers. It gives them huge huge profits, and if they can cut out the middle man to make more money they will.
Monopoly at its finest. eBay --> PayPal --> Shipping Service
Gotta give them props. |

People like to buy cheap things. |

People like to buy cheap things. | .99 cents..... free shipping :nerd:
shipping times 10 days to 30 days.
use their "advantage" agasint them. :peace: |
| mercurial333 | 10-25-2012 07:48 PM | What are the shipping charges for the buyers, that's the question? If they try to charge the buyers too much, they might not buy. Then I'm stuck in the shipping program and wondering why my items don't sell, lol.
Also what shipping carrier or carriers do they use?
And last but not least, no control over Customs Forms I think (?). Most international buyers don't want to pay 20%-40% tax on a 1000-2000$ item. |

I dont want to try and test the system out, I already have tons of problems to deal with ebay and their bull**it VERO program. I might undervalue the item by 10-20% but that's my limit.
I got a VERO hit on my TRS account today for a auction for a Western Digital hard drive. They say that the term "Scorpio Black" is copyrighted. What a BULL S...... |
| golden_monkey | 10-26-2012 02:49 AM | waoh i've got hit with some stupid stuff but thats pretty bad... next time.
western digital... spinning platters hard drive..
---------------------------------------------
I got my 1st intern order today... let you know how it goes. |
| yotano211 | 10-26-2012 05:44 AM | Now on, I am only putting the size and company in the title.
Check back on that 1st order. I want a full report. |
| golden_monkey | 10-30-2012 12:28 AM | its moving fast and already has a world wide shipping number............they seem to have the stuff together.
will report back when they get it... its going far far far. |
| DeanChev | 11-07-2012 11:28 PM | Does anybody know if you sell an item over $250 using the Global shipping program, and use signature shipping it to the US shipping center, would I be covered under Paypal's protection policy? |

This shipping program is still new and some people are trying it out. My only account that has this option is my top performing account. |
| txbutterflyx3 | 11-10-2012 10:39 AM | Shipping Program I am leery when reading the new Global Shipping Program too, looking forward to hearing what happens when your package reaches... far far far :thumb: |
| hackteck | 11-13-2012 08:30 AM | yea i'll wait also til i get some more info |
| golden_monkey | 11-17-2012 09:32 PM | well my stuff got there.... far far far farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr all the way to aus
it took about as long as if I sent something to there myself and i had some what patchy tracking.
but atleast it didn't go into a black hole.
so far the global shipping isn't doing anything for sales.. but its just weeding out the PITA people that bid and win even though my stuff USA ONLY, i took that off and just put everything in global shipping.
I have nothing bad to say about it.... its fine so far. |

| golden_monkey | 11-23-2012 10:57 AM | they charged me nothing extra, buyer paid my domestic shipping rates and off it went.
Its just like im sending something with in the USA.
I liked it, i just wish it would actually perk up my international orders.... which it is not.
I have no idea how it was sent, i guess i could go back and ask my buyer. |

Ask if possible if he was hit with a huge import duties/tax ( assuming the product is worth a few hundred dollars ), and what shipping carrier was used. Thanks. |
| golden_monkey | 11-24-2012 06:24 PM | it wasn't an expensive product. sub 50 |
| mercurial333 | 01-16-2013 08:19 AM | Any updates on this?
They have a 50% off FVF for this. Seems like they trying to promote it hard. |

| Artann | 01-16-2013 10:44 AM | Any idea how they are going to handle those international returns and how much those will cost you? |
Just accessed eb. com for a Canadian account of mine - message came up of not qualifying for Global Shipping because I am not located in the US |
| rockitaway | 01-30-2013 07:55 PM | eBay Global Shipper Program Does anyone have any experiences using the US eBay Global Shipping program with stealth accts? If so, are there any drawbacks, benefits, or issues you've run into? |
| megaobino | 03-25-2013 03:40 AM | Global shipping program It just did not work for me. I make extra for shipping internationally and through this program I don't get the few extra change from the shipping and I don't even know who gets it. |
So the consensus is not a good program? | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:19 PM. | |
