| | | golden_monkey | 10-18-2012 01:47 PM | Global Shipping Program So i get a little prompt today about this new Global Shipping Program.
I read about it and it seems like its pretty badass.
you ship to a shipping center, they handle customs and the international shipping end of it.
and you only pay domestic shipping?
am I reading this right? cause it really seems GREAT. |
| golden_monkey | 10-18-2012 02:32 PM | ok it appears to be as good as im thinking it is.
im testing it out with all future listings so we'll see how it works and if it actually gets more eyeballs on my listings. |
| JJGold | 10-18-2012 02:36 PM | Do you have a link? |
| golden_monkey | 10-18-2012 03:28 PM | im guessing its invite only or something.. i just tried to get the wife hooked up on it and I came up blank.
search on e-ay for it or online. |

| golden_monkey | 10-18-2012 06:21 PM | kinda feels like we have a more level playing field with those chinese epacket sellers.
if so... watch out... im coming for you more then I already am. :croc:
im giving it a shot... i'll post back my results. |
| yotano211 | 10-18-2012 06:50 PM | I just read the arictle in the link, thanks slim jim.
My biggest issue with the whole thing is this statement, "Sellers opting in to the Global Shipping Program have no control over the shipping service or cost for the international leg of the shipment.
Sorry but I am making a full time living with this and I want full control in how I ship things overseas.
And plus you will have more 3rd party people touching your packages. I prefer only people that work with the postal system in any country handling my packages. At least I think, they have a better hiring service than most private companies.
I will fully opt out of this program, even if it costs less than using USPS. I am fine now and why change my ways. |
| golden_monkey | 10-18-2012 08:13 PM | the international leg is also paid for by the buyer not you, you are only on the hook for the domestic... which is also paid by the buyer.
so its as easy as shipping to anywhere in the USA... with better tracking. As it stands now overseas tracking is done with a blindfold.
pack, ship, pray.
if these guys can cut better overseas rates, great go for it. overseas shipping is pricey if they have some kinda deal and can save everyone on both sides of the table money I say why not. Once it gets to the US destination im off the hook.. i've kept my end of the deal and they state that. If it gets lost damaged or whatever.... im refunded.
Like i said.. im TESTING, let you know how good/bad/ sales/up/down ... stay tuned. :pop2: |
| slim jim | 10-18-2012 08:20 PM | i wonder how this will work. what if the shipping center screws something up and sends the wrong package somewhere, when i get left bad feedback what will happen? |

If buyers dont want to pay for the more expensive international tracking then I dont ship. Only country in the world I do 1st international shipping is to Japan.
But keep us posted on your results. I would love to know them. |
So - eb is kind of doing a fulfillment service like Az? Yes, other people handling your packages is kind of a no no for f*ke item sellers...or bigtime pricey items |
| yotano211 | 10-19-2012 02:05 PM | The items dont have to be f*ke or high price, to me just it means more unqualified people handling the package.
When DHL was operating in the US, on 5 occasions in 1 year I had the package opened and nothing in it. DHL now contracts all shipments within the US to 3rd party delivery people or USPS (I think). i rather have usps than dhl. |

| AmazonStealth | 10-24-2012 11:51 PM | This is intended for China Wholesalers. eBay loves china wholesalers. It gives them huge huge profits, and if they can cut out the middle man to make more money they will.
Monopoly at its finest. eBay --> PayPal --> Shipping Service
Gotta give them props. |

People like to buy cheap things. |

use their "advantage" agasint them. :peace: |
| mercurial333 | 10-25-2012 07:48 PM | What are the shipping charges for the buyers, that's the question? If they try to charge the buyers too much, they might not buy. Then I'm stuck in the shipping program and wondering why my items don't sell, lol.
Also what shipping carrier or carriers do they use?
And last but not least, no control over Customs Forms I think (?). Most international buyers don't want to pay 20%-40% tax on a 1000-2000$ item. |

I dont want to try and test the system out, I already have tons of problems to deal with ebay and their bull**it VERO program. I might undervalue the item by 10-20% but that's my limit.
I got a VERO hit on my TRS account today for a auction for a Western Digital hard drive. They say that the term "Scorpio Black" is copyrighted. What a BULL S...... |
| golden_monkey | 10-26-2012 02:49 AM | waoh i've got hit with some stupid stuff but thats pretty bad... next time.
western digital... spinning platters hard drive..
