Default Cheapest shipping for US other than USPS?

I've been using USPS for a while now but I'm thinking of switching to UPS or FEDEX. I looked up prices for both and they seem to be much higher than USPS. I'm used to shipping Priority mail on all packages, usually costing me less than $6. Anybody use UPS or FEDEX to ship packages and what would be the best way to ship something 1 pound or less? How can I get discounts or be able to ship for $6-$7? What's the best option for me, any useful information on this would be great! Also, I ship within the US only and most of my items are less than 1 pound.

USPS is becoming a big inconvenience for me since I have to drive such a long ways to ship. UPS and FEDEX has a location at my wife's job but USPS doesn't, so I can just send the packages with her instead of driving such a long ways.

You should look into FedEx smart post FedEx picks up but delivery is thru USPS. Cheap rates but your wife isn't going to complain about schlepping the packages?

We've already talked about it. She knows this business is profitable and she's gotten a lot of nice things from it. She has no complaints.

stick with USPS you cannot beat their rates for the delivery time they are offering. YOU WILL NOT find anything cheaper unless you are shipping 200k a year worth of packages through one of those private companies.

AVOID fedex smartpost at all COST they are EXTREMELY slow. Takes like 10 days from coast to coast

I think they do but don't you have to schedule that 2 days in advance? I offer a 1 day handling time so not sure if that can work.

Some folx have access to their work's fedex account...legitly of course - asked and got permission

Dont try this without permission - you can land in hot trouble.
