Default DHL Shipment

Please could someone advise what this means from my parcel that has come into Heathrow this morning:

Saturday, February 09, 2013 at 10:14
Origin Service Area: HONG KONG - HONG KONG - HONG KONG

Further Detail:
The piece has arrived later than normally scheduled and cannot make its expected planned movement / delivery cycle

Next Step:
The shipment will be processed in the next available movement or delivery cycle

Anyone got any info on this?! Never seen it before

I regularly get this. My stuff comes into East Midlands and then up to Edinburgh. If a parcel arrives into East Midlands after the plane had already left up to Edinburgh (usually around 5am) then this message is displayed.

Yes but it comes to Heathrow, then it goes to Gatwick.

Does it fly from Heathrow to Gatwick or is it driven?

It's about 40-45 miles maybe more.

Thanks ebayorbust

Is it true that DHL do their own customs clearance whereas parcelforce have HM do it?

Just seems that DHL is easier and quicker?

Courier services pre-clear packages thru customs electronically. So when the package actually hits customs all the paperwork is already done and fees paid. Basically they use their own brokers so parcels fly thru customs. But that's why you pay a premium for ups, FedEx, Dhl, etc.

was absolutely fine - just because the parcel came in after the last shipment to Gatwick had been sent so was just a minor delay
