Default Delays in shipments coming out of China???

Are there any delays with shipments coming out of china atm, My supplier is telling me that DHL and EMS are having a crampdown by the customs in China and no one is allowed to send VERO items.

Is this true or is he just trying to delay my products?

Depends on what part of china they are shipping from. Some parts are really having a lot of issues with the gov cracking down on the distributions for f@kes stuff from china to other parts of the world.

There are delays but not due to any crackdown I have heard of....
In Hong Kong it is the Easter Holiday
And in China it is The Tomb Sweeping Holiday.

I think some of these suppliers have a long list of reasons for not sending stuff quickly. It's all smoke and mirrors, friend.

Tomb Sweeping holiday? Is that what it says on the tin? A day to clean the cobwebs from the ancestors.

Qingming is a genuine event.

Been happening for centuries. Started in the time of the Zhou Dynasty.

It's a day of offering sacrifices to the ancestors as well as eating cold food.

Mind with a name like Qingming one would be suspicious.

Default DHL Delays

I have been getting this delay on the DHL tracking site for afew days now

"Shipment information received Hong Kong-Hong Kong"

is this because of the Chinese Holiday?
I have just tried a new supplier, so I am hoping it is not a scam by them!!

That's not a delay due to holidays.

Another courier is being used to send the item from mainland China to Hong Kong where DHL will then deal with it.

Your supplier will get given the DHL tracking number fairly quickly and the tracking is showing that DHL are expecting your item.

Yes lots of places were closed from Thursday to Monday due to Qingming holiday here and easter played hell with stuff through Hong Kong..
All should be fine again now. If you have a genuine DHL tracking number, that is showing a status on their website you should be safe from a scam 99% of the time. As previous poster said, stuff to DHL Hong Kong needs to go with special local transport companies for smooth clearance through customs.

I think that's an excuse as they haven't received your goods from their suppliers yet. Sometimes they can provide tracking number because they can get a courier form in advance, fill in the info, and give you the tracking number. But you cannot track it as the courier hasn't collect it yet!

Hi the tracking number is showing up on DHL's tracking page

"Shipment information received HONG KONG - HONG KONG"

That is the status since Saturday, not had this show as a delay before.
I am using a new supplier from China so have ordered a small parcel to start with.

Most of the time, parcels go through HK before going to other countries. Faster and safer customs clearance. But you can call DHL if it's 5 days already?

No point. DHL will only advise that they are expecting a parcel.

The issue is that the item probably wasn't even sent when the original tracking number was given.

I would put money on the tracking being updated in the next two days.

Once DHL in Hong Kong actually receive your item. You should receive it within about three days.

But libbo says the parcel is traceable in DHL website already?
"Shipment information received HONG KONG - HONG KONG"

If it's still not the case, then I stick to this view:

Most admit I tend to agree with you, its sounds like a stall by the seller, I hope its just that they are waiting to receive the goods from their supplier!!

If they respond you, they should be waiting. Scammers don't reply after collecting money. Tell them you called DHL and the number is invalid, see what they say. Is it high amount or not?

Hi they are replying to my emails, and have said the delay is due to the Holiday, I thought DHL work through these holidays? The amount is not too big, it is a new supplier so it is always a venture into the unknown!!
