package handed over to customs...what does this mean?
 

got 2 packages from china ..really small though , one made it this past saturday , checked on the other and got this below...is my package toast? Never had an issue with EMS/USPS

it means just what is says, handed to customs.

It means the last recorded, and therefore, reported info is the item is in the hands of US Customs.

Mid-morning time for the info suggests their usual lack of communicating & updating the system.

tbf, I would wait for more updates and not panic yet

I would not worry about it right now. Usually will be in customs for a few days.

Everything gets handed over to customs. what it needs to say next is custom cleared or something of that nature. If it doesnt then.... yeah

But with US customs in NY, I dont think it will get updated until it arrives in your city. NY has a rep for not updating tracking info very well.

I would just give it a couple days and not worry about it too much. It is not like there is much you can do in either case other than speculate. That is unless you expect the FBI to come beating down your door :pop2:

I have constant shipments to the US and parcels either just go through the customs (as I think, no check at all, just scan through the machines), or pending to be checked by customs (they may open the packages).

So your parcel should be randomly picked and awaiting customs to check.
As it's small one it should have no problems and usually my parcels go through it in about 2-4 days in similar cases as yours.

Where is the package going? What State?

Wait 72-120 hours for an update - if no status change by then...your item has been seized and is gone. - too soon to judge.

Best to listen to those who ACTUALLY do import items and not those who have not purchased any imported items either at all or in many years.

Listening to someone who just repeats what others have said can get you in a spot, so make sure when you are advised on something like this the poster has actually done some "recent" importing.

@AuctionsDenied ...its going to Buffalo , never had an issue with ems before , status is the same since last friday ( the 26th)

@yotano211 ...yeah its been there for a few days and nothing today, but same shipper/ seller sent it in 2 small boxes , got the one saturday , the other got yanked..im going to give it another day or 2 and if nothing then its gone

If you got one then the other one is not far behind. They both say the same name and are going to the same address. Maybe both packages came into customs on different airplanes. I have gotten the same results with shipments from Taiwan with EMS and DHL. My ems things go through San Fransisco.

The last time I purchased from China, my order was broken up into 3 shipments.

The longest I have had something in customs was for 1 1/2 weeks.

I have had one package kept in customs, which were scarves, (non-vero) generic and customs sent me a notice to pay clothing tariffs. I let the package go because the amount was almost twice the amount I paid for the items.

Anyway, if they keep the package, they will notify you.

hey guys thanks for all the help and input....its been about 9 days and if its not here by the end of the week im gonna chalk it up to a loss...i did notify my supplier and my supplier is going to re send items back out ...bought through dhgate so i know they want their money and i cant release funds until i am satisfied.

but i think its toast ( package at least)

Sometimes even 9 days is too early.

But that would be your choice, of course.

Same here with one package. I'm expecting a letter as well.

Wasn't vero, bootlegs, nothing high risk at all and only 2 pieces.

Went to Cincinnati, then New york, then MEXICO, then stated that
it went to the wrong HUB, then went BACK to New york, then BACK to mexico, handed to customs and then confiscated...

From what I hear, mexico customs are horrid and will take almost anything.

Why is it going to Mexico? was your buyer in mexico.

It just said that it went to the wrong HUB and that it was rerouted back to New york.

It got to my local DHL HUB then mexican customs called it back and took it. :eek:

weird that it even went to mexico. usually packages to mexico go toward mexico directly. that i know of, mexico city has their own dhl hub. i knew this girl who imported in mexico and lived in mexico city.

We dont have a lot of experiences from Mexico on this forum - would be interesting to learn

I had a package held by customs, it was nothing just some blank bags but it was cleared then HELD by customs. i waited a couple of days to see if they would release it. They did not, so i sent an email to them and told them what the item was and explained they were welcome to open the package.
The next day they released the item, they never opened the item. The package was not tampered with at all. So i would suggest writing them an email. Explain what item your expecting. (Never communicate your expecting knockoffs or anything illegal).

My point is, they HOLD packages sometimes that aren't illegal and they havent actually opened them. You have nothing to lose by trying.

Clearance event:
I ordered around 150 stickers with Apple iPhone name on them. there was not logo on the stickers.
Just the name Apple iPhone with capacity 32GB, 128GB
I only ordered them for labelling my inventory. no box, no chargers... just stickers with the capacity and serial numbers.

the package was only 0.5kg but the DHL tracking says 'Clearance event'
Will these stickers be opened and confiscated now?

Hi !! I have a family big package coming from China My supplier said it was “buckled by the customs” who do I contact or where can I send an email to ?
I payed over 1000$ for this and now I can’t get my items . Someone help !!

try calling USPS 1-800 number,intl ,and talk to someone and see what they have to say
