You dont.

If they are invoiced to you at 5 x £100, then you pay VAT @ 20% + Import Duty at the rate depending on what your importing.

Not the right question for the forums - search other posts for discussion but you will always have to deal with duty. Perhaps speak to your supplier directly for best advice

Like I said, IF they are invoiced at £100 each for 5 units, then there is no way to avoid paying the VAT and import duties.

Talk to your supplier, and they may be able to come up with a creative solution for you.

Even in the US, I sometimes to have pay import duties or taxes on items. There is no way around it. Making the packages "a gift" is against all import laws on items you plan to resell.
But talk to the supplier, maybe they can make it a lower value.

I was thinking, if I order 5 at a time and declare them as low value, I think customs will open it and check but not sure

Or sent the item from China to the customer when their order it from me but if I declare the item as low value, will it get through?

Bare in mind that falsely declaring the value of goods being imported is illegal, but people have been known to do it.

It may or may not get checked, no way to tell before hand. Totally down to the courier/customs.

For the second part you suggest, that is called drop shipping and is not liked by EB. It will also mean you will likely get marked down on delivery times as it will take longer for an item to get to the customer from China than it would from the UK.

You pay duties on the value declared - speak to your seller.

Importing means paying taxes and duties due

You take responsibility for this as part of business
